PostSubject: Rei Balor[Rank Exams]   Sun Feb 07, 2016 2:47 pm

First will be your use of the Transformation technique. Your performance will be used in a three-part score for your overall pass. Said the man as he looked only slightly at Rei, the girl who had come to the village of Yaminagakure only recently. By appearance, she was merely the age of fifteen years: a few years too old to partake in the village's shinobi system as an Academy Student. She was an exception, like the majority of her weird clan who had recently emerged from the Kurai Forest. Rumor was that they were the real Dullahan, the clan cursed so many years ago by the Sage and imprisoned for an undetermined amount of time. Whether that was true or not, this academy teacher couldn't say for sure, but the Yamikage had approved of their affiliation with Yamigakure and allowed the Dullahan to join Yamigakure and become shinobi through the normal methods.

That being said, they were an unusual people- in both appearance, attitude and skill. Rei, the girl in question being tested by the academy teacher, was one of the most recent additions to the village after making her first journey from the Kurai Forest. A month in the village and she proclaimed to have mastered the academy jutsu's basic techniques. A feat by anyone wishing to become a shinobi, but on a lesser signifcance since she was technically an adult, an adult which could perceive and implement basic Ninjutsu that a child with undeveloped senses and understanding struggled with. Dog → Boar → Ram went her hands, one after another as she closed her gold and black eyes to focus on the chakra: this was the first time the teacher looked directly at her. As the instructor and proctor of the test, he was not allowed to look away. It was easier to look at her while her eyes were closed, her blue skin held an exotic attraction, but her eyes carried so much more maturity then he had ever witnessed even in his late grandmother. He watched her handseals astutely and noted mentally that they were the correct handseals. A puff of smoke overtook the Balor girl's form for a mere second and the image of her was distorted to mimic the teacher and his face of distaste for her. His look of disgust, mirrored to him, put his own personal opinions of her into perspective. He felt guilt for judging her solely based on her appearance. Pass was all he said in response and Rei released the hold of chakra on the technique.

Second is the use of the Clone technique. You will be graded in the same manor as the first. Rei nodded without any words, Ram → Snake → Tiger went her hands. A puff of smoke appeared beside her as one clone appeared on her left side, identical to her own appearance. Her handseals had been perfect, as was the appearance and imitation of her clone. It lacked a shadow, as the teacher noted, the natural effect of the clone technique. Pass he said again, this time with less indifference.

Last is the use of the Body Replacement Technique. You will be graded in the same manor as the first and second. said the instructor after a moment of writing down some details on a slip of paper. he looked up at her, fully this time without averting his eyes. Normally, this technique wasn't used but during battle and required some form of attack. Naturally, the teachers couldn't attack the academy students with weapons: so instead he would use a sticky ball that if hit, would stick to her skin. In his dominate hand, he held the ball and wanted for her to signal to him that she was ready.

Rei nodded her head suddenly, her long white hair bouncing softly at her shoulders. The teacher brought his hand back to his shoulder and threw the rubber ball with full force. The ball raced towards Rei and hit her solid on her shoulder: for a moment, the teacher thought she had failed at the technique. Her form suddenly disappeared in a puff of smoke as she was replaced with a block of wood nearby: the previous position of the wood, was now where Rei sat comfortably, watching the teacher from the side. It took the teacher's eyes a moment to recognize what had happened: his first impression that she had failed, changed.  Pass. This concludes all three parts of the test. You are officially a Genin of Yamigakure. said the teacher as he handed her the headband with Yamigakure's crest on it. Rei took it in one hand and tied it loosely around her neck.

Rei sat alone in her darkened house. Only recently she had joined Yamigakure after being released from the one hundred year confinement the Sage had sentenced her and her small number of clansmen to. She still wasn't too sure how she felt about the Sage, even after brooding over the imprisonment for one hundred years. Now he was dead and the Dullahan he had "blessed' lived on with the blessing of immortality. It was called a blessing, but it was more of a curse. Whether or not the Dullahan wished to die, they seemed to simply not be capable of dying. While they could see the lifespan of those around them, they themselves had no such numbers.

Rising from their imprisonment and joining the village hidden in darkness, her people had mostly gone their separate paths in the village- in pursuit of their own individuality and to learn of the changes over the last one hundred years. Some sought their own deaths, while others like Rei, sought the deaths of others to fully understand the impact of the loss of life. Whether their end goal was to realize their own immortality and end their "blessing" one couldn't say. All Rei knew, was that she was enjoying how things had gone recently. Never since her imprisonment, had she been so amused. Even the little things in life, like watching a black cat cross someone's path unexpectedly, could alter the person's lifespan. Whether it ws misfortune, bad luck, divine timing or just coincidence, followed by poor judgement- one couldn't know for certain, but Rei enjoyed imagining whatever it was that determined these factors.

Even this day, she stood in front of a heavy set elderly man, scribbling on some paperwork. He was a scribe, or a bookie. Someone who wrote own important paperwork within the infrastructure of the village and saw that t was recorded and stored properly. The reason for her meeting with the fat man today, was obvious. This man was in charge of making sure shinobi were promoted when due time came. It was more of an influential and skill based timing rather than a periodical timing. After all, as a shinobi, you were required to have a certain level of skill and intelligence before a higher rank and responsibilities were given to you. You know why you are here today? asked the man and then coughed, spreading germs with each heaving cough. It didn't phase Rei. her immortal body was more resilient than people knew, grievous wounds couldn't kill her. Separate her head from her shoulders and she would just walk over and pick it up. What was a few germs here and there when she had a body that darkness was released from to regenerate?

Yes. I have been selected as a worthy candidate for being promoted from Chuunin to Special Jounin. she said in a somewhat mechanical way, making direct references to the letter of "summoning" that she had received. The letter had entailed a possible promotion, she had simply used the words in the letter to properly answer the vague question. The man grunted, he liked her response. It was rumored that she was notorious for being brutal and violent, but he could tell just by her demeanor and response, that she too was shrewd, intelligent and a capable diplomat if ever their village needed one.

He didn't answer her retort, just his grunt was enough as he looked at his stamp. A rubber seal made specifically for him so he could make proper paperwork and seal it with his mark of approval. Truth be told, he already wanted to stamp Rei's promotion packet. He couldn't however, Rei had recently participated in the Chuunin exams and was the victor in a three-way battle royale. While impressive in its own regards, the ranks of Chuunin and Special Jounin were quite different. Undoubtedly, Rei was smart and mature enough for the responsibilities: rumor was that her blue-skinned people were well over one hundred years of age. His elbows on the table and leaning forwards to stare at Rei across the table, he clasped his meaty hands together and looked at her seriously. I have the power and authority to promote you to Special Jounin. Your long life..."experience" and recent accomplishments speak for themselves. I can promote you here and now... but be aware that you need a certain level of skill as a ninja to survive. A higher rank means higher ranked missions: which mean more danger, and thus, more rewards. Are you confident that you have what it takes to be a Special Jounin? he was leaving the choice up to her, but also letting her have the room to hang herself if she wasn't actually skilled enough. Death was the only rebuttal she would get if her answer was too hasty.

She didn't blink or shrink away from what the old fat man replied. From the looks of him and the little amount of lifespan he had left, he was sure to die far sooner than she was. She stood straight at attention nonetheless and showed the man proper respect for his position in the village. I am confident i could give any kage of the shinobi world, a difficult time. Again her response was pleasing to him and he did more than grunt. He laughed heartily and then followed it by a couple deep and unhealthy coughs. This girl was indeed good with words, well beyond his own choice of words. She showed confidence, enough to face against any Kage with a chance of victory, but hadn't outright proclaimed she could beat a kage in a fight.

So be it Re Balor. As of this moment, you are a Special Jounin. If you die, your blood isn't on my hands. Besides, I'd be curious to see how you fair right now against a Kage... if you're that confident. I can only wonder what you'll be like in a few years from now. he said, both absolving himself of any responsibility on his part if she were to meet an unfortunate end. Though he was also complimenting her resolve. She nodded in respect and waited as the man filled out her promotion packet, rolled it up, stamped it with his seal and then sent it to the Yamikage's office. Surely the Yamikage would be amused by her response.

Goken was sitting behind his desk looking over the mission that he was about to give an up and coming Jounin. This girl had definitely proven herself as she aided in the attack on Yami by the Chowakage, most certainly deserving of a rank-up. Though, he would consider this mission as her final task to determine if she was ready.
When she entered his office, answering to his summons, he would greet her with a serious, but kind smile. "Rei Balor. Your skill and loyalty have caught my attention. I am offering you an opportunity to earn the rank of Jounin. Consider this misison, your Exam, complete it to perfection and you have earned a place amongst the elite of the village." Once he finished telling her what the task would be he would hand her the file containig the details of her mission.

You shouldn't seek all the answers; believe me.
You may not like what you Find
Transformation Jutsu

800/800 chakra

Rei stood in the Yamikage's office: the strange powered man sat at his desk on the opposite side from where Rei stood passively. She stood there dressed in her usual one piece black leather suit, zipped up from the naval to halfway up her cleavage, showing her large bosom. A scarf wrapped slightly around her neck, her scythe strapped to her back and steel toe combat boots on her feet. Her unique choice of clothing, mixed with her blue skin and silver hair, was surely an odd sight to say the least... though the oddest sight was her black and gold eyes which looked at Goken with mild interest.

Usually, people who were summoned before the Yamikage's office was for important matters. Filled with anticipation, eagerness, worry and excitement- many people found it either nerve-wracking or troublesome to be summoned in such a manner. Rei had none of these feelings, just a simple mild curiosity to see what the man wanted. Some time had passed since the destruction and rebuilding of Yamigakure. The dead had been buried and honored, mourned and then the living had moved on. After the whole ordeal had calmed down for the most part, the Yamikage Goken had finally stayed true to what he had said during the fight with Okami when Rei had demonstrated her skills in combat. He had said her skills had been impressive and that she would be reviewed. As he handed her the mission with the brief explanation of the mission countng as an exam, Rei understood what he meant. So... One such as myself is supposed to save lives instead of take them. Quite the ironic kind of exam. she thought inwardly to herself.

She could only assume that the Yamikage had brushed up on the information about the Dullahan clan. Rei, like her clansmen was very good at the death part, especially at the taking part... perhaps this test was an appropriate means for the kage to determine how well Rei could value and save lives: for both saving and taking lives were a responsibility of a Jounin. "Perfection" was an understatement, though the exam presented would prove challenging. Failing it meant more than not getting promoted in rank to Jounin, it also meant people would die and she would be stuck as a Special Jounin who a long time. Such a failure would scar her reputation as a shinobi and others would fear to promote her or rely on her for responsibilities. After reading over the report thoroughly, she closed it and tucked it deep between hear breasts till it disappeared. It will be done. is all she said and then vanished with a high speed movement from the Yamikage's office.

Out the window instead of the door or down the stairs, somewhat eccentric and alarming- but this was a high risk mission which required immediate attention. The closest means of reaching the building was through the window of course: down three streets as she dashed past people faster than they could perceive, some some she would be recognized only as a passing gust of wind. To others, she would appear as a black blur rushing past them, of course those were only  select few who excelled in perception and speed- all shinobi of notable caliber.

Up ahead was the destination, the place Rei had spent briefly after first being released from her entombing prison beneath Kurai forest. The shinobi academy. Currently, the building had been corded off from all personal. Ever since Okami's attack on Yamigakure, some small groups had risen up in defiance of the Yamikage, believing him to not be sufficient at protecting their village. A valid concern, seeing as Okami had massacred countless innocence and caused seemingly irreparable damage to the village before the Yamikage Goken could intercept him. As such, these groups had gone about expressing their disapproval of the Yamikage in several ways.

Some rioted, some appealed to the people by speeches, some tried to assassinate Goken and his dignitaries... and then there was this situation. Word was that there at first seemed to be no reason for taking over the shinobi academy and using the younger generation as hostages. Then, as communication was made between the criminal and nearby shinobi- it was learned that through demand, the rogue shinobi demanded that the Yamikage Goken come to the shinobi academy and commit suicide before the rogue shinobi's very eyes.

Rei smiled at that thought as a plan began to formulate in her head. This man's hubris would be his own downfall. Before that however, there was the matter of the explosive tags to deal with: before she could deal with the shinobi, she needed to disable those explosive tags.

She arrived then through the nearest street to the backside of the shinobi academy. The building was fully guarded and no one could pass through despite the angry and concerned parents and family members who wished to save their younger children. There was a lot of people there, on the outside of the academy building: with her eyes, she could see many different shades of pulsating aura. The majority of those colors were focused inside the building, where the children and the rogue shinobi were being held up. Excuse me, but you may not pass through here, Yamikage's orders. If someone gets too close to the building, the rogue will detonate the explosive tags. said a shinobi, interrupting Rei's concentration as he stepped in front of her to bar her way.

She looked him straight in the eyes, causing him to look away uncomfortably, mankind was uneasy with the Dullahan and their weird appearances. She reached into her breasts and pulled out the scroll with her mission on it with the Yamikage's seal of approval. I'm on a mission from the Yamikage himself. Let me through or I will be forced to cut you down. she said in an even and uncaring tone, one that told the man that she was not playing around at all. He gulped hard and then stepped aside, apologizing and removing himself from her presence.

She stood there for several long moments, taking in the situation of both inside and outside the building. The eyes of Balor allowed her to see much much more than the regular eye. Though she could not see the hidden explosive tags from the outside, she could see other things. Such as the auras and life count of those inside. Only a few minutes remained for the lives inside the building: if the Yamikage didn't appear soon, the man would ignite the explosive tags and kill all of the students. Curious enough, not everyone would die in the explosion. Her eyes allowed her to see whom would survive, even if for only a little while. By reasoning and awareness, she came to understand. The explosive tags would immediately kill those closest to the blast. Those farther away from the blasts' epicenters, would live in varied numbers of minutes and seconds longer than those closer to the explosive tags.

She knew then where the tags were located. Someone without her eyes would probably have a much more difficult time in learning of the location. Their only other course of action would be to deal with the perpetrator first. Of course that posed the risk of the rogue shinobi detonating the explosive tags, killing the would be rescuer as well.I guess that settles it... she thought to herself, deciding the best course of actions.

Luckily, she was on the backside of the building where there were far fewer windows. If the Yamikage was to come, he would approach from the front side: that meant the rogue shinobi's main focus would be on the front of the building. Sneaking in would be difficult. Someone too slow would be spotted and the building would explode by a jerk reaction from the rogue shinobi. Out came Rei's large scythe as she reached behind her and unhooked it from its resting spot. As it came from behind her back, its form shifted. Decreasing in size and separating into two black masses, the scythe became a set of smaller dual scythes. Stealth and speed were key to victory on this "test"

With a quick jerk of her motion, she vanished at top speed, dashing across the short field between the safe zone and the backside of the academy building. In through an open window she jumped and rolled silently: she landed in one of the empty rooms and then dashed through the open door on silent footsteps as she searched the darkened corridors of the hallway. The rogue shinobi and the academy students were in the main lobby, facing towards the large double doors and glass windows of the front side to the building. There... she said, acknowledging the location of the first explosive tag on the backside of the hallways. A quick slash of one scythe rendered the explosive tag useless. Turning her head, she saw another tag only ten feet away on a main pillar. A twirl of her body and slash from the other scythe rendered the tag useless.

By now, she had begun to understand the thoughts of the perpetrator. he was targeting the main structural integrity of the building. Ten explosive tags would be a lot of explosive power, but the main goal was to collapse the building and crush whomever was inside that survived the explosions. With two tags down and eight to go, she glided on silent but swift footsteps as she went down the hallway, slashing at whichever room or pillar she found explosive tags within. Finally, she had slashed through nine explosive tags and was out of places to look: that meant the final explosive tag was inside the room with the rogue shinobi.

She sighed, Of course he has to be complicated... she said to herself complaining as she performed three handseals. Ninjutsu was not a practice that the Dullahan were capable of, nor genjutsu or Medical ninjutsu. Even so, long ago she had mastered the basic techniques such as the transformation technique. Such a basic technique proved very challenging however and was her limit. Her appearance changed, becoming that of the physical appearance of Yamikage Goken.

She walked up to the double doors and pushed them open, startling the man a bit. Go no furth- began the man before he recognized the appearance. So... you decided to try to sneak up on me from behind instead of offer up your own live huh? I expected as much from a coward like you... would say the long grey haired man as he performed the "kai' seal suddenly.

The floor mat that Rei stood upon took on a sudden glow: the final explosive tag had been hidden inside the room underneath a rug. the coward that he was, the rogue shinobi had backed himself safely away from the rug- by extension, he had also backed the children away, intending to keep them close so he could cut anyone down with his knife who tried to run. Just before the explosion happened, Rei looked at the man and threw her scythes at him, each one landing on a vital point in his body. One scythe to his heart and the second in his head. His heart and brain instantly damaged, he died with his last vision being that of the "Yamikage" exploding.

Children screamed after the explosion ended. Some held their ears, some held their eyes, hurt by the aftershock of the explosion. The man dead at their feet and their Yamikage's lower body obliterated. The transformation technique ended then and there lay Rei, her lower body destroyed and the rest of her body badly burned. Her eyes closed, she pretended to be dead for only a moment, before opening her eyes again and looking around at the children. Up her arms moved as she pulled herself upright and leaned against a nearby wall. Blood smeared everywhere and her black mist begun healing her wounds. Go tell the shinobi outside that the situation has been taken care of. she would instruct the children and then use her arms to drag her upper body towards the dead rogue shinobi. She pulled out her scythes and placed them together, reforming her large scythe and using it to steady herself as one leg regenerated and assisted her in standing up. A little messy, but the job was done with no casualties: she had even killed the perpetrator and not given him the chance of escaping or allowing the children to be harmed, or the building exploding. Perfection at the cost of my own body... she said, disinterested at those who gawked at her. Soon the Yamikage would hear the successful report and she would be summoned to his office once again to be promoted.

Goken, after hearing word from his ninja in the area around the academy would send for Rei at once. He was surprised how things had turned out. He had a couple of his younger ANBU undercover as Genin there, watching her. The way she “Sacrificed” herself and dealt with the threat was admirable. Once she arrived he would welcome her back into his office, “Rei, you have done a marvelous job of not only upholding the values of this village on missions, but you also performed well above your rank’s expectations during the invasion. As such, as the Yondaime Yamikage, I grant you the title of Jounin. You are now an elite of Yamigakure and will be given more responsibility than you have been, though I have great faith that you can handle it with ease.” Smiling he would allow the girl to leave, he had just gained another powerful Jounin.
