PostSubject: Rei Balor[Missions]   Tue Feb 09, 2016 10:26 pm

Wasabi. Rei hadn't been too long in the world of the shinobi, but even she understood the reasoning behind the rough hazing by the bullies. Ms. Wasabi's son shared her embarrassing last name and was by Rei's assumption, a very sheltered and spoiled child. The woman, was a very heavy set female herself. Likely fat from eating and indulging in a dozen too many treats. Her boy, was also of a similar build: pudgy and heavy set- shy and a bit awkward about other children his age. Worst was, he was used to receiving whatever he wanted, so it was new to him when others didn't sway to his demands. Such was the case that had started all of the bullying in the first place, or so Rei guessed.

While she personally didn't care too much about the specifics, she found it puzzling and somewhat annoying to have to stick up for such an excuse of a person who had no power of their own because they allowed themselves to get so fat. So... all I have to do is to get the other kids bullying him.. to stop? she asked as she cocked her head to the left side, her head twisted at an unusual angle, which concerned the short fat woman standing in front of her, the neck might break. Of course Rei's neck didn't break though and she watched the woman with her gold and black piercing eyes: the woman nodded, half hesitant and half afraid for her immediate safety. Was this someone she really wanted scaring the other children? What if she scared her poor little baby boy as well!

With the clarification set, there was no more need for words. By looking at this fat woman, Rei could see her remaining years in her life- less than ten years. Her cause of death would be from obesity. Rei walked away, leaving the woman feeling a bit uneasy. Supposedly around this time, all the children went to the park to play games like tag and hide and seek. Rei headed in that direction and walked for several minutes. Eventually the sound of children laughing and playing could be heard. Above that, slowly as she approached, she could hear jeering and taunting. She turned the corner of a fence and entered the park: there, four older children had surrounded the only short and fat boy- Ms. Wasabi's son. Rei walked forward suddenly and aggressively. Right into the center of the group of bullies and took turns shoving each of them to the ground harshly as she gave them evil eyes. The boys didnt seem to understand at first, but looking at the scary undead girl- was enough to scare them away and forget about the boy they were picking on.

Name: Tracking
Location: in the village
Rank: D
Team: Not required
Client: Kage
Rewards: 200 Ryo and 100 Exp
Description: Rumors are being spread about a large beast roaming the forests just outside the village, you are to track it down and report back with any information you find. DO NOT engage the beast.

A beast roaming the forests of Kura Mori? That was normal. The dark forest held many secrets and unknown animals. The sighting of a large beast in the forest was neither surprising or alarming to Rei: then again, she had spent the last one hundred years imprisoned beneath that darkness. Before being locked away by the Sage, Rei as a young girl, had seen and experienced much more terrifying things. To her, this mission was dull and pointless. She would do this mission though- as a shinobi of the village, it was an easy task and also provided Rei with reputation in the shinobi ranks, as well as funds for furthering her studies of death in everything. Even now as she took her gold and black eyes off of the mission details, she could see the countdown of countless numbers in the village as they moved back and forth. People had expiration dates on them, some predestined and some shortened by actions and consecutive consequences based on those actions. Minor things, such as eating a healthy piece of food, could lengthen their lifespan by a day. On the opposite, an unhealthy snack could shorten their lifespan by a day- of course all of this was subject to change depending on their next actions. For a normal person unfamiliar with it, this kind of information would overload the mind and drive a sane person crazy. For a Dullahan however, this was just like looking and comprehending normally. Fluctuating numbers meant nothing to them- like her clan, Rei was only interested in the last few moments of life. That which defined death.

With her information mentally noted, she left the village through the normal method: the front gates. The beast had been reported to the Southern side of the village in the thick of the woods. So she headed in that direction: she followed the road of course. She followed the road for as far as possble until reaching the spot- the reasoning was simple. The shinobi left their scent on the immediate area, in this case, the road. If she had gone through the woods, she would have left her scent like a beacon for the beast to notice and scamper away before she could gather any valuable data to report.

She walked back and forth the road for about five minutes- noticing small things like broken twigs along the side of the road, footprints and any kind of skin or fur left in briar patches. These were small indicators that something had passed through here, basic tracking skills taught at the academy. Rei could take this a step further ue to her unique eyes. Her eyes naturally perceived chakra in stages of health, aggression & timely deaths. Simply finding the direction of the beast and traveling in that direction was all she needed. As such, she did just that until she came upon a visual chakra signature- a red signature, which indicated aggression: the beast. Rei crouched low, her blue skin and white hair difficult to blend into the surroundings. Luckily, the beast was far too busy eating a fresh corpse, black in chakra signature, dead. She noted its size, general appearance and its taste for flesh and then quietly scampered back to the village to report her findings. Seeing as the beast was still in that area, meant that was its hunting grounds.

Name: Remodeling the roof
Location: Kage Tower
Rank: D
Team: None
Client: Kage
Rewards: 200 Ryo and 100 Exp
Description: You have been tasked with putting new tiles on the roof of the Yamikage tower. While it may seem like an easy task, there are no elevators or stairs to get you up there.
_____________________________________________________________________

A recent set of events, likely building up over time, from storms and other such natural marvels like erosion and ware: tiles from the Yamikage tower had fallen off and given the important village monument, a rough and unprofessional appearance. The Yamikage has decided it is finally time that it should be fixed. Important dignitaries and others come and go freely, the Yakikage doesn't want to send them the wrong message by letting them see the poor state of such an important building that is marked by the village. As such, a tedious task like this falls to the shinobi, who with their natural skills and talents, can accomplish solely what would take a couple dozen men to do in less time.

This task happened to fall upon Rei's shoulders: more than likely, she had volunteered. After recently buying her scythe, she felt a bt empty in her ryo pouch and decided it was time to do another mission. Having accepted this mission, she was given a written set of instructions and ushered to the base of the tower. There at the base, were a few piles of tiles that had been purchased by the village's funds and placed there for the repairs. Mortar mix and two barrels were nearby, as well as a trough of water to mix the mortar with.

Rei set out immediately to accomplish the task. Fast and efficient was the only true way- going slowly and being lazy would both take forever and feel like forever. Fast and hard manual labor made the time go by quickly because th emind was fully engrossed in the work, rather than worrying about the time passing. Such was the work as Rei focused her attention to mixing the mortar in the barrels, wetting it with water from the trough and taking the tiles, dipping them in the mortar and then walking u the side of the tower to place each tile neatly in place. How had she walked up the side of the tower? Naturally with her shinobi skills of course: even if Ninjutsu was near impossible for her people, the use of basic academy jutsu were still within their reach. As such, this invaluable skill aided her in completing the repairs before the light of the day had set.

Name: Fishing
Location: In the village
Rank: D
Team: Not required
Client: Mr. Takigawa
Rewards: 200 Ryo and 100 Exp
Description: You have been hired to pick up some fish from the market to help out Mr. Takigawa. He asks that you bring him 100 fish, these will be quite heavy all together, but you can take separate trips.

Well. You aren't quite what I expected, but hey! You'll do just fine, I guess... said the man that Rei stared at impassively. A middle-aged man who seemed to be a fisherman or possibly a cook. A man at least, who worked in the market and had some dealings with the fish. I need you to go to the market and pick up my order of fish, that's all. said the man against after a long pause in which Rei hadn't responded, to the man's awkwardness. He said it in such a simple way, that Rei believed it to be so at first. However, she did not like the gleam in his eye, as if a large burden had been lifted from his shoulders. She shrugged it off as a hunch and agreed to the man's request. He was at his home and the market was at least a block away in the village: apparently he didn't have the time to go fetch the order of fish himself: possibly some unexpected guestes or an injury. Ether way, Rei would complete this mission and be on her way as quickly as she could.

When she arrived at the market, her nose was assailed by many smells. Such as spicy, metals and especially fish. Using her nose, she followed the scented trail to the fish until she found herself at the fishing market part of the whole place. I'm here for Mr. Takgawa's fish order. she said in a plan and business-like tone to the man across the counter. A large man, nearly weighing twice as much as her. he looked down at the petite blue skinned girl and raised an eyebrow questioningly, her unrelenting gaze however, dissuade him from either denying her request or questioning if she could handle it by herself. He shrugged and then disappeared into the back of the shop for several long moments and then pulled out five medium-sized crates of fresh fish, packed tight in cloth and ice. Rei grunted a little and then cursed silently at the lazy Mr. Takigawa who had left her with such a task. Their bulky size alone would make it difficult to handle, let alone five of them. This will take me a moment to get all of them. She said in a realistic tone, the large man just nodded knowingly and sat back down in his chair, waiting for her to get all five.

She started immediately. Grabbing he first crate and hefted it up to her ample bosom and carried it outside and all the way back to Mr. Takigawa, who seemed to have disappeared. She left the crate in his house, to stink it up for him as a "thank you" for such a troublesome task. This is how it went, as she repeated the process of carrying the remaining four crates of frozen fish to Mr. Takigawa's house and leaving them strategically in his rooms to stink the whole house up.

Spoiler:

Mr. Snuggly Britches, an odd name for sure. One that Rei didn't find too appealing to her exotic min and methods of thinking. She was truly twisted but always maintained a semblance of normality. Sending one hundred years undying in a dark prison was sure to be enough to make anyone crazy. What was important, was being able to maintain the appearance of sanity. That appearance broke sometimes, but not very often, even for her other clans people. A large trigger for that facade-revealing break, was of course death. When something was ready to die, her people were near fanatically crazy about witnessing the deaths of others. To them, it was like some taboo hobby that was perverted and shunned upon by the common mass of people.

Here Mr. Snuggly Britches... She called half-heartedly, somewhat embarrassed to be calling out loud, such a ridiculous name for a pet while looking for him. If the cat had been her pet, she would have named it something more meaningful- like... "Heel Nibbler" or something more noble. The idea was funny but more appealing than the name of this pet Ms. Kuchiki had "lost" With a name like that, the cat was more likely to have run way out of embarrassment and regret of living with such an intolerable woman.

She called out for several moments while exploring the nearby allies for the cat. If it was hungry, it was likely to dig in the trash for scraps of food people had wasted and thrown away. Her suspicions were confirmed when one of her last calls was answered by a half-interested and confused "meow" nearby. The pet had heard its name called, but by an unknown person. How had this blue person known his embarrassing name? It had perked its head up from a trashcan in curiosity. Too late, by the time it had thought about hiding or retreating, Rei had already dashed forward and grabbed him by the scruff of his neck. Instantly the can protested by meowing loudly in anger and scratching her her arm with its agile claws. The sharp claws dug into Rei's blue skin and scratches deep, but Rei hardly seemed to care.

Black smog overtook her minor wounds and began to heal the damage the cat had done to her arm. Her gold and black eyes held a share gaze with a stare that paralyzed the cat with fear. It went limp in defeat, a small and quiet "Meow" being understood as "Take me away..." Rei held the cat close once it had stopped struggling, right next to her near-bare bosom. The can noticed that her body was cold rather than warm like the others: which confused and worried the cat even further. Moments later, she handed the cat over to its master and left the insightful reunion, which she somewhat pitied the cat in her twisted way.

Spoiler:

First, it had been fish... and now, it was fruits? Rei sighed to herself, she was a harbinger of death, reduced to nearly nothing. Forced to the lowest level of the shinobi ranks, her responsibilities were only trivial, such as being a delivery girl or tracking beasts. Both were quite easy with relatively little to no danger or death involved. It was frustrating, all Rei wanted was to witness many deaths, relish in the last moments of their lives. Yet she couldn't because the village her people had joined, didn't trust her with such responsibilities yes.

Of course, even though she was very skilled, her skill meant nothing if she couldn't be trusted and counted on by the village. In order to gain their trust, she had to go about things just like everyone else- build a large and important list of accomplishments and positive opinions about herself to others who would support her n her advancement through the ranks. The irony, to get where she needed to go, she needed the fundamentals. Well. I might as well get this over with... she thought to herself as she trudged up to the woman's house who had ordered the mission of the village, which had been handed down to Rei in return. She was ready to knock, but before she could tap the door, it opened and a thin pale woman appeared. You must be here to deliver my fruits. Fine fine. So engrossed with Rei's unusual appearance, the woman failed to look passed the girl's appearance. Rei just furled her brow a little and set a box on the porch's floor to the woman's house.

The woman was confused for a moment and then gasped as she recognized the box of fresh fruits. Rei had went and gotten the fruits earlier than planned and delivered the fruits on her initial visit to the old lady. There was no point in making two trips to the cottage in the forest after all. Not to mention, this woman was super healthy and many years away from death: Rei had no interest passed completing the mission. Enjoy your many years of fruit. Was all she sad to the woman and turned away.

Spoiler:

Rei sighed. They were at it again, and again- Rei was chosen for the mission. Truly, she didn't mind so much, but it was rather inconvenient for her, as well as almost a complete waste of time, with the exception of the ryo award for completing the mission of course. That was one of the only two redeeming factors of the mission, that and the reputation standing with the village's shinobi system was also in her favor if this mission was successful. Sure, it was only a D Rank mission, an average Genin mission, but every little bit helped. Tracking missions, as they were, were quite easy and required little to no supervision. Missions like these, were normally solo style missions: which was how Rei preferred it. No one to boss her around or to impress. This was perfect for Rei. Unlike the last time when she had been vigilant in searching for clues, she already had an idea of the area the beast would be, so there was little need to track it.

She followed the road from the village just as she had last time, but this time, she cut off the road a little early and looked for signs of travel. To her, it was as plain as day. Deep paw prints in the soft ground- judging from the imprint, Rei could guesstimate the average weight of the beast. By the shape of its paw print, she could determine it's sub-species of family and it's average body shape and height. She placed her blue index finger down into the paw print, which swallowed up half her finger. She frowned and then pulled her finger from the ground. Luckily, as an undead, she had no major scent, which means it would be far more difficult for a beast to track her by smell. This played into her favor when tracking, but at the same time: this beast was no small beast. It was large and heavy, its species was a bit unclear to her. She would have to look a little harder, with no more steps forward, she leaped straight up and grabbed a tree branch overhead. If the beast was around here, it would come back here again before too long. She clambered up the branch and got comfortable in the bend of the tree as she waited. Two hours passed by silently and Rei felt almost as though the beast was gone, that was when she heard a twig break nearby in the forest. She tensed for a moment, before realizing that she was well concealed by thick branches and leaves. Moments passed and the beast passed nearby, she mentally took note of its size, color and length. It was carnivorous to say the least. She could smell the blood from a fresh kill on its mouth yet. after it passed, she jumped from tree to tree and went back to the village to report her findings.
