Part 1

Okami had finally gotten the mission that the Kage had been referring to, as the Kage figured that having him do this mission might kick him out of the rut he had been in for the past few days. These were special, he was told, and he would be awarded highly. He was to infiltrate a small Village along the border that was growing rapidly. It even had a false Kage and shinobi forces to defend it. His duty was then to assess their stengths and weaknesses, cripple the system, and eliminate the threat it posed-no matter the cost. This was the kind of mission he was hoping for, one where he could just let go of everything and revel in the thrill of combat. Maybe he'd even die, and join his beloved in the afterlife. Making his way towards the Village, he made sure to stay hiding. It was of the utmost importance that no one see him until it was too late. The Village itself was quaint, set up like one of the three major Villages but on a much smaller scale, including a large tower that likely held the family of the "Kage". Making his wa towards the back, he found something that intrigued him, a set of caves amidst the mountain backing the Village. Making his way towards them, he discovered that they were lined with torches. Perfect. They would be were he could begin his infiltration. Making his way down through them, he noted the various twists and turns that he took. They would be important for navigating the underground expanse. Coming upon a cavern, he heard talking within. Apparently someone named Jessica had just...No, not time to get distracted with the admittedly detailed story of conquest. There were ten men standing around a pulsating orb of some sort, bright blue in color. It appeared to be pure chakra, an oddity in the world of shinobi. Wires and cables were sticking out of it, leading out of the series of caves and likely to the Village to power everything. Disguising the sounds of his footsteps with the laughter of the other men, he began the slaughter by throwing a rock towards the corner. When everyone looked, he dashed in, stabbing the first man with a kunai. The strike was to the liver, a nearly instant death that caused extreme pain within that split second. Moving the body, Okami would use it as a shield to block the shuriken that were thrown his direction. These men were good, likely experienced Chuunin in the Village. Time to show them what a difference one rank could make. Drawing a second kunai for his off-hand, Okami set to work. Thrusting downward upon the second man, the knives acted as a twin pair of fangs that came down on the man's shoulders. Screaming in pain, his blood would spray from his throat with the second swipe of kunai. The third man kicked at Okami, who dodged it deftly and stabbed him in the femoral artery, slashing away at his opposite hamstring to bring him to the ground. Leaving him for dead, Okami would withdraw his kunai in time to parry a half-assed sword strike. Pinching the sword between his kunai, he shoved it to the side and slid up, ramming his head into the fourth and knocking him off balance, which was a fatal mistake for the other man. Kicking him in the groin, Okami would then stab downward. Four down, six to go. Spinning about on his heel, Okami's ponytail would swing in the slight breeze created by the movement, distracting the fifth man. Thrusting a kunai into his gut, Okami ripped upwards into his throat and slashed outward, throwing his off-hand weapon into the eye of the sixth. Dashing forward before he could move, the Uchiha ripped it out of his face and kicked him into the seventh man, who had to stop the jutsu he was cooking up just to catch him. The eighth man, however, managed to pull it off. A spray of mist went into the air, obscuring all vision. Not for long, however. Activating his Sharingan, the other men could see the glow of red streak through the cloud of mist and knew then, at that moment, that they had made the mistake of going headlong against an Uchiha. The Hidden Mist Jutsu was useless against those eyes. The sixth man, who was missing an eye, attempted to run, only to end up with the point of a knife sticking through the front of his throat. The seventh, having wizened up a bit, tried to analyze the situation while the eight covered him. Both of them had slashed throats, with the last thing they saw being the bright crimson eyes with three tomoe swirling about within them. The ninth and tenth men quickly jumped clear of the dissipating mist, as it was more of a hindrance than a help. As the jutsu faded with the life force of it's caster, Okami stood there, like a Shinigami amidst the corpses. The God of Death strode forward, noting in the back of his mind that the generator-type ball was indeed chakra. Ignoring the smell of sweat and piss that emanated from around the final two men, he threw both kunai, hitting them in their guts. Retrieving them, he slashed their throats quickly. Hopefully no one heard the screaming from the slaughter, and came investigating. Scavenging the bodies, he noted that the sword the one had been carrying was too damaged to use, and was rusted all the way through from maltreatment. Oh well. Walking over to the ball of raw chakra, he reached out and touched it, noting the slight energetic reaction it had. Smiling, Okami would note the ball for future use. It could come in handy.

Sheathing his Kunai, Okami would pick his way carefully back through the cave system. It would be the most anticlimactic walk ever, with no one coming to investigate. It was just as well, however, as they would have found ten corpses where there had been just as many healthy Chuunin deployed to protect what was now a security hazard. Next, he would check the Kage's personal chambers. Scaling the ramparts was a chore, as he hadn't brought any rope. Focusing chakra into the bottom of his feet and the palms of his hands, he would begin to climb. To be honest, he could have gotten away with walking up the wall, for all the Village's security was worth, but he didn't want to attract undue attention. Despite what Luke claimed, he was actually an extremely skilled shinobi, more so that even his friend. This was in part due to natural skill, and partially due to his heritage as an Uchiha. Jumping down from the height he was at would be risky, but if he had to he could likely make it. He spent the entire climb backtracking and making sure that no one in the windows saw him. It was a thankless chore, considering he saw and heard some things that he didn't want to within the confines of the walls. Once he got to the top floor, five stories up, he slipped into the window as quiet as could be. There were two men standing outside one of the few doors on this level, each wearing a flak jacket and one was smoking a cigar. Stepping into the open, Okami would make himself visible, keeping his eyes hidden until they got close enough. The first walked up to him, asking what the fuck he was doing there until he spotted the fully-matured Sharingan, at which point he realized who he was faced with. Forming a few hand seals, the man used the Great Fireball jutsu. Bad ploy, as the Uchiha Clan had invented most of the known Katon techniques, including their trademark Great Fireball technique. Moving to the side with almost a lazy look on his face, Okami dashed forward, clashing with the man. These two, from their chakra and their movements, were A-Ranked Jounin from the feel. Just a guess, but one that was at least educated. The man was using knuckle blades, which meant that Okami had to watch out for his punches. Naturally, Okami was stronger and faster, which he used to his advantage here as he swung low and took out the man's ankle with his kunai that appeared to materialize out of nowhere, he was so fast on the draw. Slashing out his thigh next, he made his way up the man's body, cutting and stabbing so many times that he lost count after twenty or so, finishing with the throat. It was a miracle that the other man had stepped away shocked, and Okami again used that to his advantage, throwing himself forward and putting the kunai through the man's throat. Flicking the twin blades back into their spots in his rope belt, Okami listened at the door to hear sobbing. Apparently the Kage had a son, who was grounded and alone now that his guards were dead? Interesting.

ANBU Test #2

Stalking his way back out into the main room of the fifth floor, he cursed under his breath and hid. His Sharingan revealed to him that the man sitting on a couch in the center of the room was an S-Rank, just from his chakra reserves. This was going to be interesting. Recognizing the symbol on the headband on his bicep, Okami would begin to have flashbacks to the last time he was in this Village, the Village of Zaraki.

As a fresh Shinobi, Okami was asked to work on the outskirts of the Village. This suited him perfectly, as he was still unsure of what had happened not a year prior. The elusiveness of the family member who saved him bothered him greatly. He was, however, able to put the thought out of his mind easily enough with his work. As the years went by, he had almost forgotten completely about the tragedies that had torn his life apart. Time seemed to blur past the young man, and before he knew it, he was approaching the 5th anniversary of his graduation.

That day, a riot had broken out in a small town outside the Village, Zaraki. He and two recruits were dispatched to investigate and quell the uprising. Approaching the source of the infighting, the three Shinobi were disturbed by what they saw. One of the patrols sent to the outskirts that day had been murdered, their bodies strung up to pikes as the residents of Zaraki engaged in a bloodbath below. Two parties had formed, one clearly supporting this outrage, and one attempting to retrieve the corpses to return them to the Village. Steel hissed against wood as the two newer Shinobi leapt in to join the fracas. Sighing, Okami drew his blade. Increasing his chakra in a display of power in hopes of stopping the riot peacefully, the young leader scanned the battlefield in search of his charges. When he finally found the raw recruits, his face fell in dismay and horror. One of them, a young lady by the name of Nami, was fighting a losing battle against 3 others. She was holding her own, but couldn’t gain any ground. The other, a youth by the name of Hanji, had already met his fate. His mouth twisted into a mask of pain and terror, the recruit plucked helplessly at the spear thrust through his abdomen. Letting out a cry of despair, Okami felt something was off. A sharp pain tore at his eyes as chakra gravitated toward his face. His vision started to fade as he gradually lost control of his body. Opening his mouth, a roar of hatred and agony escaped his throat. An empty voice doubled his own, echoing with the sadistic grin Okami felt widen as he was forced to witness the carnage that ensued. Whispering goodbye to the memories of his friends and family, he faded into the warm abyss that grew within him.

Opening his eyes, he recognized the inner workings of the hospital. Sitting up, he found his personal belongings, along with a note explaining what had happened. Feeling his face, he felt several scars forming along his lips and cheek. Eyes tearing up, he looked down at the letter form the doctor. They hadn't managed to save his Genin, and it was a fluke that he was still alive. He owed his survival to his heritage, apparently. Standing up, he refused to let the nurse look after the once-smooth skin of his face, wanting to keep the scars. It was worth it, he thought, to always remember his first team. He would never let another one of his comrades die. Ever.

He honestly hadn't recognized the Village as Zaraki until now, he thought as he shook away the memories. Stepping out into the light, just at the edge of vision, Okami would form a few hand seals and exhale gunpowder, using Fire Style: Ash Pile Burning. Switching the hand seal to Horse, he then used Fire Style: Great Fire Annihilation to set off the gunpowder and create an explosion that rocked the entire tower and bathed the main room of the fifth floor in flames. Ending the Jutsu, he would watch as the other man stumbled around in the smoke, burnt badly and suffering from internal bleeding, but otherwise alive. Damn, Okami thought. They didn't give S-Rank designation to just anyone. Dashing in under the cover of smoke, the Special Jounin stabbed the man with a kunai, tearing it out and slashing out his throat. Breathing heavily, Okami hoped he wouldn't have to expend much more chakra than that. He needed to save it for his fight with the false Kage of the Village. Stepping down the stairs to the next room, he began to think of his dead lover, Laputa.

Laputa was brought up in a dying portion of the Main Branch family. From birth, her Byakugan was coveted by many who would abuse them, so her parents hid her away for ages, only allowing her to go to the Academy after she begged and begged. She wanted to help people, she said, and the only way of doing that is by learning chakra control and Medical Ninjutsu. They finally relented, allowing their only daughter to go to the Academy when she was eight. While she was there she was put into the Special Advanced class, one she shared with two other shinobi in the Village currently. One was supremely popular, and the other was overly talented. She couldn't hope to compete with either when it came to combat, so she worked on her Medical Ninjutsu under a helpful teacher named Miss Nala. Eventually, she came to have a crush on her instructor, which was frowned upon by her family. Squelching her own feelings almost immediately following a "talk" with her parents, she continued on through until she was about 10 when she finally passed her test. After a short while with the standard Genin squad configuration, she was placed into the Chuunin Exams.

When they were let loose in the forest, she immediately sought after the scrolls, only to run into a pair of older boys who obviously wanted some. Being only 13 at the time, she had an idea of what they wanted but was unwilling to give herself to them. The moment they set themselves upon her, tearing her clothes, they were caught with their pants down, literally. Blood spraying from their throats, a blue silk blanket was thrown over her form. As her savior walked away, she caught a glimpse of a night-black ponytail and a red Chowagakure headband. She was saved, and the scrolls the two boys had dropped were both what she needed to complete the exam.

Fast forward several years. She had passed the Chuunin Exams splendidly, and she was now sixteen years old. Searching for a love that was lost, she had sewn the blue silk blanket into the dress that she wears constantly. She went through several boys and even more girls trying to find THE ONE, the person who had rescued her, but it was to no avail. That hair color was rare, especially in that length, so who could it have been? Not bothering with it for the moment, she set to her work with a fiery passion. Her Byakugan assisted her in seeing the flow of chakra through a person, allowing her to better apply her Medical techniques and herbal remedies. She believed in those, despite the effectiveness of Medical Ninjutsu, as she believed that they could save your life even if you were out of chakra. Unfortunately, her mind wanders in her field, causing her to perform unorthodox procedures that, somehow, work beyond all hope. This is the only thing that keeps her from getting in trouble with the Kage, given her track record of these bizarre procedures. Who knew a face transplant would work?! Despite this, she still had time for her family, who were growing older with each coming year. They were middle-aged when they had her, and now they were easily in their sixties. It was while she was visiting that they closed their eyes for the last time, age having outdone them. Crying for them, she buried them with their forefathers, making sure their eyes were destroyed in case someone decided to try and take them. After all, Byakugan users from the Main Line didn't have the curse mark that prevented that. Laputa vowed right then to uphold what she promised them; that she would bring a change to the Shinobi World, no matter the cost.

Shaking his head, Okami thought to himself that it was unfair to her for him to be mourning her while in the middle of a mission. Stepping out into the fourth floor, Okami noticed the A-Rank Jounin on this floor were already on guard due to the explosion. Great. One of them began to form the hand seals for the Dragon Flame Song technique, but he would never finish it. A kunai embedded itself in his throat before being ripped out sideways, a wire attached to the ring at the base. Retrieving his Kunai and dodging a hand to hand strike from one of the other Jounin, he would stab this one in the ribs, puncturing his lungs and killing him almost instantly. The third would be a bit trickier now that he had shown some of his moves. Dodging a pair of punches that likely would have been painful had they hit, Okami slashed at his bicep, allowing him to turn away. He was playing with the man, and likely could wipe him and the rest of the Village off the map right now, but those weren't his orders, and that would cause too many problems, mainly being that his orders were to leave no one alive, but attempt to be stealthy until he knew the full strength of the opponents. Sabotage before assassination. Dropping his center of gravity, Okami shoved the man over and straddled him, stabbing downwards. This turned it into a contest of strength, which Okami won after a moment or two, stabbing the man in the chest after his arms gave out. Standing up and withdrawing his kunai, Okami would stride over to the stairs once again, making his way downwards. The next floor as full of Special Jounin like him, three of them guarding what appeared to be an office. Dispatching of the first one quickly, Okami kicked out the second's legs and stabbed him in the throat. The third was even easier, attempting to use the Earth Turning Palm before Okami interrupted him by cutting off his hands and shoving a kunai into his gut. Stepping into the empty office, he found a key sitting on the desk, a classic brass affair with a pair of initials on them. Taking it, he wondered curiously if these were the keys to the kid's room. Making his way upstairs, he found that although the lock was stiff, it indeed matched the key. Stepping inside, he knocked the son of the "Kage" out before he could even squeak, slinging him over his shoulder. Making his way back down to the base of the tower, he easily slaughtered the Chuunin on the second floor, and the Genin on the first. It was so pitiful it wasn't even worth mentioning.

Stepping outside into the dawn light, Okami set the kid down, who had woken up easily. He stared wide-eyed at the Uchiha, who had deactivated his Sharingan for the moment. No need to waste chakra on this. The kid seemed about Genin-age, and had the toned muscles to prove that he was being trained and groomed. Squeaking out a half-understood sentence, the kid begged and pleaded for his life, offering anything that Okami wanted. Ignoring that, Okami covered up the Genin's mouth, opening up his throat with his kunai. Pushing his corpse onto the doorstep, Okami called out for the false Kage to come join him at the base of the tower. Things had just gotten interesting.

ANBU Test Part 3!

Hideo Yoshitoki sighed as he heard an explosion on one of the floors of his tower. One of his guards likely decided to try lighting a cigarette with one of their jutsu again. It was VERY problematic, and he would have to get someone to clean up the mess. One of the Genin, maybe...Oh well. Turning back to his paperwork, the Zarakage (as he called himself) signed off a few more things, such as an additional power line to the small Academy he was setting up. Hearing a moan from the corner, he looked up and smiled at the last messenger that Chowagakure had sent. She was a cute little thing, 14 maybe, and he thought she was quite the...Well, let's just say that he had some odd tastes. Walking over to her, he stroked her face with the back of his hand as she whimpered again. She nipped at his fingers, which normally got him going, so he grabbed her throat to hear her choke. She did for a time, but there was a light crunch and her head flopped in a weird manner. Dammit, he thought to himself. His strength was ridiculous sometimes, and it took all he had to hold himself back from breaking his desk as he wrote. He had no formal training as a Shinobi, so he didn't know much about it. He did, however, know how to use Lightning Release quite well, which made him feared among the various criminals in the area. Writing down a couple of things, such as the need for a new toy, he set down his brush and capped his ink bottle. Looking at his own writing, he gritted his teeth. It was ugly, and few people could read it. Then again, the few people that COULD read it were the people in his village that could read in the first place, so there was that. Running his fingers across his desk, he froze as he heard his son sneaking out again, most likely with the help of his guards. Sighing, he began to clean up after himself, since his son couldn't run very far. Just before he was done, he heard someone call out for the 'false Kage' of Zaraki to come out and join him at the base of the Kage Tower. Not recognizing the voice yet hearing the insolence behind it, he moved over and saw the man push his son's corpse onto the steps. Seeing this, he couldn't believe his eyes. His son was one of the few people he actually cared about other than himself. Seeing him dead...It was just like his wife that day years ago, when she was killed by a red-eyed demon because the shinobi from the nearby Hidden Village had DARED to come into their town. Rushing down, he was beyond angered at what he saw as he stepped over his son's lifeless body. He was older, granted, and from the scars on his face the Kage could tell that this life wasn't kind to him, but it was HIM. That Reaper that had signaled the death of all he held dear. He almost found comfort in the dead look in the man's eyes, but it wasn't enough. It would NEVER be enough. "You...YOU! YOU KILLED HIM! I'LL END YOU!"

Okami, for his part, jumped back at top speed when the "Kage" began to form a jutsu that he recognized as the Lightning Release: False Darkness Technique. Activating his Sharingan, he moved out of the way as the jutsu shot forward from the man's mouth like a lance, spearing the spot where Okami's heart was. Everything was in slow-motion as the Uchiha revealed his eyes. This man didn't have a clue, especially as he looked straight at Okami. With his eyes flashing, the Special Jounin moved out of the way fast enough that the crimson glow from his eyes trailed slightly in the night air as the man used Chidori to lash out. Forming a few hand seals, the Uchiha molded his own chakra in the same manner as he saw, formless white lightning sparking around his hand as he retaliated and speared the man's shoulder. That...was more difficult that he thought it would be, but it got the point across as the man moved back as fast as he could grabbing the shoulder. His left arm was blown off on the ground in front of Okami, twitching with the electrical stimulation. Feeling a drop of rain his his face, Okami looked up as if he really didn't care what happened in this fight. This...was the wrong thing to do, obviously. The man started laughing and formed what could have been another Chidori, but it was too small. Watching it carefully, Okami saw that it was a marker for something bigger...MUCH bigger. The man brought his fist down laughing as a massive bolt of lightning shaped like a Kirin was brought down onto the Uchiha. FUCK!

The resulting explosion seemed to flatten the entire area other than Hideo, who stood laughing at the massive amount of smoke where the insolent Reaper once stood, but his voice caught in his throat as Okami stumbled out of the receding mist, coughing up blood and looking slightly rough but otherwise unharmed. Looking into the Uchiha's eyes, the thug would be utterly trembling. Instead of the three tomoe he had heard was common for the Uchiha's Sharingan, there was instead a knot-like symbol with three points. Okami's eyes were bleeding and felt like they were being ripped out of his skull, but he couldn't lie. This was useful. Hideo began to speak as he looked up at the fake Kage. "How...How did you survive? That was my best ability, and you're still walking? What...WHAT ARE YOU?!"

Okami chuckled at that, a blood-red aura surrounding him as he spoke, what appeared to be a skeletal ribcage beginning to form. "Me? I'm an Uchiha, and this is MY greatest jutsu...This...is Susano'o."

As the black-haired shinobi finished speaking, arms and a head would form onto the demonic skeleton, followed by flesh and muscle before robes engulfed it, the only thingvisible of it's original form being it's glowing golden eyes in a field of black. The yamabushi had a katana sheathed in it's left hand, grabbing the hilt with it's right. Pulling it, the blade would leak killer intent as Okami grabbed his right eye in pain and coughed up more blood. Susano'o was the strongest ability available to those with the Mangekyo Sharingan, but it took a massive toll on the body.

Hideo's eyes widened in fear at the display of power. Deciding that he needed those eyes for himself, he would cast False Darkness three times (to be continued)
