PostSubject: Let the Exams begin!   Mon Feb 22, 2016 10:18 pm

Kosuke made his way out of his house toward the stadium that had been built and designed for the exams, and today was the day they were going to begin. He made sure to eat a large breakfast and then to stretch and warm up properly so he would be in pique condition. As he threw on his black cloak and tied his headband around his neck, he mentally prepared himself for whatever it is he would face. Once he made it to the stadium, he noticed a crowd had started to gather, each person seemed to be from various villages and towns from across the world, this really was an exciting event. As he walked into the stadium he noticed the large rocks and trees, and mentally stored away their location for use later on. He also took note of the small lake to the side, he was thinking of ways he could use that. As he made it to the middle, he noticed he was a tad early so he sat down and waited for the proctor or the other competitors to arrive so he would know what to do.

Chowagakure, one of the three major villages in the shinobi world: full of talented shinobi, as well as a strong leader and hearty people. This village had been decided by the leaders for the Chuunin exams: while Rei didn't like the idea of residing in another village's walls and rely on their safety, it was inevitable. Rei felt vulnerable and always being watched by suspicious and cautious Chowa-nin. It couldn't be helped, they were "guests" in the village after all. It was a strange sensation. Rei was still considered new in her own village, after resurfacing from her & her clan's imprisonment after one hundred years. Her clan, the Dullahan, had joined under the banner of Yamigakure and some of their people had desired to become shinobi. Rei was one of those people and had become an Academy Student to earn the basics. From there, she had become a Genin and worked hard on both her skill and missions. It felt wrong, to be chosen as the only Yamigakure Genin participant in the Chuunin exams. Was their faith in her that great? Or maybe... their shinobi just weren't qualified to combat other villages?... Rei was new to Yamigakure, but she was stronger than the average Genin. The possibility sprung in Rei's head that Yamigakure might be scared to show how weak they are and instead were relying on one Balor girl to be the face of their village's power.

That idea was both a bit startling, but also appealing to Rei. Her hands tingled with excitement as she walked down the streets of the new village, noting everyone's remaining time of life. Everyone present, with the exception of a few elder and foolish people, had long lifespans ahead of them- this subtly signified that the village of Chowagakure was in a favorable position should a war ever break out. Rei even mentally noted that the lifespans of Chowa-people were also a little longer than Yami-people too. A curious fact that made a grim smile spread across Rei's pink lips. The blue skin around her eyes crinkled slightly as she recalled that of all the people, only her clan was not permitted such glory of the "near death" Her people had no lifespans to view, not that she needed one to tell that they weren't permitted to die naturally. After spending one hundred years imprisoned with the others, she knew them quite well.

She pushed those one hundred years of insanity out of her mind, for now- she had to focus on the task at hand. It was her duty to represent her village, notably named the village of darkness: befitting that a Balor should represent such a village. Rei had just entered the gate to the Chuunin exams arena. She had been informed just the night before about the location and some of the specific details of the exam. She was not told much however, just a few minor details about the location and how to get there. They were yet to reveal what was to happen, though Rei could tell that this was meant to be some kind of spectated battle. Interesting. She entered the gate and stepped on the dry dirt of the arena, her black clothes making her a little harder to see in the stands by the spectators. Those who were close enough to see Rei fully, yelled with mixed signals. Some jeered at her, while others cheered at the babe, others were too disgusted at the thought of a blue skinned woman. It was not just her blue skin, but her moonlight white long silk hair and her black and gold eyes. Her eyes scanned the spectators, something curious caught her attention about them all and she couldn't help but laugh a bit, that little bit of laughter sparked into a louder laughter, almost a cackle as she half-covered her face, only letting one of her eyes be seen through her fingers as her hair fell over her face and her gaze set upon the first arrival at the arena, a young boy Genin who seemed to have arrived rather early. Her one visible golden eye gazed at the boy and intently monitored his lifespan's numbers as she attempted to smother her laughter, her shoulders heaving as she caught her breathe.

She wore a one-piece black suit, skin tight with the zipper in the front, nearly zipped all the way down to her belly button, her ample bosom nearly falling out. A black scarf wrapped around her neck and hung loosely behind her back, covered by her white hair. The other notable thing about the girl, was the obsidian black curved body-length scythe that she hoisted without effort in her dominant hand. Her right hand of course, because she was covering her face and looking at the boy with her left hand. She had finally smothered her seemingly random and psychotic bout of laughter as she spoke to the boy which would later be introduced as Kosuke. The eyes of Balor greet you. I am Rei, I look forward to seeing how your death plays out~ she said in a greeting, not intending to be threatening, though it would surely be taken in a wary manner. Rei was just genuinely more curious about death than she was pleasantries. This was the Chuunin exams, anything was possible, even death: though she doubted anyone would allow that currently while watching. Time passed slowly, Rei was eager and she began to tap her black knee-high leather boots as she waited for the other participants to arrive. She leaned against the far wall, so she could see the gates and notice anyone who entered, her eyes randomly going back to Kosuke every now and then. A grim smile upon her face, she was already enjoying herself white well and the battle had yet to begin.

It had been a long time since Makoto had sparred any one, although he did not know what the Chunins were to consist of. His first time being in Chowa, he treaded lightly across the land moving as fast as he could. He was late due to his laziness but he was sure they wouldn’t disqualify him totally, after all these were the first exams, they probably needed as many people as they could get. Makoto would get excited as he came upon the arena. Upon arriving past the front gate he walked slowly, people would for sure notice his entrance. He saw a young kid, black hair way older than him. Makoto could tell what clan he was from but it wouldn’t matter to Makoto, what would matter was what was the man good at, and why he was in the Chunins at such an old age. Makoto’s eyes dotted across the arena as he saw a young girl in a black suit with white hair. He had never seen a girl like this before and it slightly spooked him. In her dominant hand, Makoto was guessing welded a scythe. ‘Taijutsu’ Makoto thought to himself, most likely she specialized in Bukijutsu. Makoto would have to keep his range with her if they fought. He would want to be caught in that. Makoto would listen as the proctor spoke of him being disqualified he would speak in a rather loud tone. “Im Here.”

Kosuke took the initiative as soon as Luke said to start. He dashed at a moderately slow speed over towards the water, stopping just outside of the small lake, then turning so that he cold see almost the entire field. He made sure to keep his eyes on the other two competitors, the blue girl that showed up not long after him, gave him creepy vibes. Especially based off what she said to him before the exams. Due to the large scythe she was holding, he could assume she was a bukijutsu-type, but he wasn't going to put her past being able to use jutsu, so he just kept his distance. The other competitor, Makoto Nara, was an unknown to Kosuke, so he decided he would need to see what skills he had before deciding on a strategy there. He settled into a defensive stance and then waited for either opponent to make a move.

A proctor had appeared, one of the shinobi from Chowagakure that had been designated to delegate rules and oversee the fight. Rei didn't mind, she wanted to gauge how well other village's higher shinobi could ascertain battle and decide on important matters. Most of all, was whether or not they were bias in these kinds of exams or not. In either case, Rei had already entered the arena, greeted the boy named Kosuke and had been resting easy against one of the far walls inside the arena by the time the proctor, Fauna Yasenha had suddenly appeared. She raised her head a little and set her gold and black eyes on the young man as he began to introduce himself, as well as indirectly introduce the contestants. So.. This boy is an Uchiha. The Nara and the other one seemed to be disqualified for being unable to make it on time. I wonder if they were assassinated. she half grinned, but also half frowned with mixed emotions. Them being dead made this easier for her, but she also regretted the idea of missing out on her rival's deaths. Still... I don't know why the proctor thinks I'm not inside the arena. Maybe his vision if shorter than normal? I should get closer to the Uchiha boy then and make eye contact with the proctor. Rei was thinking a couple things. Either the Proctor didn't know she was already in the arena, or he was hazing her as a shinobi of another village.

She leaned forward and off the wall she had been resting comfortably again. As the proctor continued to talk, she walked over casually towards kosuke and stopped about twenty feet to the boy's left, visibly in front of the proctor, who Rei made she she made eye contact with.  I'm here proctor. she said and continued to wait while glancing at Kosuke occasionally. This exam seemed to be a one versus one match with everyone watching: Rei had mixed feelings whether she should go all out or hold back. For now, she figured she would go with the flow of things. This type of fighting was fine with Rei, she could focus completely on her one target and eliminate him. That was when she noticed out of the corner of her eye, the life force of another individual entering the arena. Healthy and slow pulsing chakra, she turned her head and saw one of the other Genin's enter during the proctor's speech, the Nara had somehow managed to make it- though Rei doubted they would let the boy continue. The proctor noticed him then and began to tell the boy he wouldn't be allowed to participate, when an ANBU appeared and whispered something to Fauna Yasenha that Rei couldn't quite hear. Either way, she knew the answer when the proctor made an exception of Makoto and said he would be allowed to participate on the graces of the kage. That bothered Rei a little bit, did the kage allow him to participate regardless because he was special?

Sure, both of the other two competitors were of the famous clans. The Uchiha and the Nara. Their skills were famous and sometimes infamous. In this matter, Rei had the upper hand. Little to nothing was known about her weird clan, for they had just recently resurfaced from imprisonment after one hundred years. In that time, the Sage had died and his descendants had passed on in a couple lineages. One of those lineages stood before her today. She gritted her teeth as she looked at the boy, who was likely the great great grandson of the Sage. He looked nothing like the sage, but his power was rumored to have been passed down through the Uchiha's eyes. Rei couldn't help but wonder if there were similarities between the Uchiha and the Balor eyes.

The other boy, the Nara, was from a troublesome clan that she had heard about. The Nara focused on using shadows in combat, to both attack as well as immobilize their enemies. Getting close could be difficult, but if the Nara's range was long, staying at ranged would be even more difficult. Of the two, the Nara seemed to be the more dangerous opponent, but Kosuke was a descendant of the Sage, there was no telling what kind of power resided in the boy. This was to be a game of understanding and threat-levels. Since Makoto had joined, the rules had been changed into a Grand Royal- a free-for-all. If any two shinobi temporarily teamed up against one, their victory was almost assured, then they would turn on each other and one would lose. The factors were all there for Rei to analyze before the match had begun. The Nara and the Uchiha were powerful clans and little was known about Rei, these two boys likely didn't even know the name of her clan. What was important was to pit them against each other before they could decide to work together. Information worked in two ways- having information could lead to victory, hence the Nara and the Uchiha already knew a lot of each other- which could led to an evenly matched fight between them. On the other hand, Rei was the unknown factor. They likely knew little to nothing about her, except that she carried a scary scythe which likely intimidated them. What would they do though? Would they try to take each other out first by the information they held? Or would they try to eliminate the unknown variable and then fight themselves? The latter reasoning was higher in Rei's mind.

As Makoto had approached, Rei waved at him with a soft smile and bounce of her large breasts. Pleased to meet you Ma~ko~to. she said, intentionally dragging out the boy's name. He was a young adolescent, both boys were and they likely though fighting a girl was somewhat unfavorable. Re was over one hundred years old and understood herself and interaction with males very well. She pointed at Kosuke and spoke in a cute pouting voice to Makoto. We should take out the Uchiha first and then settle things between ourselves. Right? she asked Makoto. Her question had multiple intentions. First. To make the threat of the Uchiha even greater and imply that with teamwork they could defeat him. Second. That Rei indirectly gave off the impression that she saw the Nara as a lesser clan and underestimated them. This would be advantageous to Makoto as a Nara who used shadows on a battlefield. And finally, third. By audibly telling Makoto this, Kosuke had also heard and Rei would have planted seed of further doubt and mistrust between then two to prevent them from working together. Rei didn't actually believe Makoto would help her defeat Kosuke, she wasn't foolish, but she could at least pretend to be foolish.

The proctor finished explaining to the newcomer and then told them to begin when ready, as he disappeared into the stands where he could better watch the crowd. Kosuke had taken the initiative after been given the "green light" and dashed towards the water- which mean, unlike the normal Uchiha who favored fire, Kosuke favored the water element? Or possibly it was a ploy to fool her into thinking this was the case. The arena was an open field environment surrounded by walls. Evading and countering would be more difficult under these conditions. After Kosuke gained his distance, Rei went into action. She too distanced herself from her competitors, although not before making some kind of hand signals to Makoto, regardless of his response to her offer of temporary allies. Distance would be best for them to ascertain each other's abilities while maintaining a solid defense. Again, with the use and distribution of information. Range battles were not to Rei's benefit, although she was sure that both Kosuke and Makoto were capable of it. Since Rei wielded her scythe, it was apparent that she was a physical style of shinobi, which means she favored close combat. Logically, the largest threat in the battlefield at the current time, was range versus ranged combat. Understanding the speed and range of your opponent to avoid being taken from the blind side was a major possibility. Rei was wary of getting close to either of them, for Kosuke now held the environmental advantage of the water behind him, and Makoto was equally distant. For now, the best possibility was that Rei could attack and hope that Makoto would attack from ranged, whether at her or Kosuke, it didn't matter too much. In the thick of battle at close range, it could easily be perceived that Makoto's attack would be aimed at Kosuke if Rei was too close but the actual target. Especially after planting the seeds of doubt in them. Judging from Kosuke's rush to the water, Rei assumed she should use half of her speed to gauge whether or not Kosuke was holding back or not. Makoto's physical prowess were a complete mystery to the girl.

Out wide her scythe arm went as she prepared a strike and dashed forwards suddenly. The arena wasn't too large, but large enough to dash about short distances- even at this range, range style jutsu were favorable and yet physical combat was still a viable option. While her dash would be swift, it was not her top speed and both participants would have plenty of time to get off a jutsu if they so chose. The intent was simple, she was aiming her scythe to strike at Kosuke's mid-section, an easy target due to the size compared to the rest of the body. She neared him quickly and kept her eyes on both targets from the side as she rushed the boy by the water and prepared a technique. The distance between the two was short, maybe fifteen feet or so as she rushed his left side.

PostSubject: Re: Let the Exams begin!   Mon Feb 29, 2016 4:44 pm

Makoto would listen to the proctor as he spoke his non sense. Makoto was barely listening as he already knew he was back into the exams. The proctor would say his name allowed as he called out the others. He silently cussed to himself after hearing his name, the proctor could have possibly screwed his whole game plan. The other competitors now knew his last Nara, meaning they could have possibly known of the shadows. He would stick his hands in his pocket coming up with a plan while slightly annoyed by then announcement of his name As Luke went on about introducing himself Makoto would look closely at everyone’s shadows. Luke’s, Kosuke’s and Rei’s. This was essential to his new jutsu he came up with allowing him to shadow travel, this would help him greatly if he uses it in the right time. Makoto’s eyes focused on the scythe as they trailed the scyhte’s shadow. He didn’t know how the girl used it, if she had a connected chain or what but that also would be extremely useful.  Uchiha, the famed Sharingan clan. Makoto knew some things about them as he read upon many famed clans before entering the exams. At this age an normal Uchiha would be strong in either Ninjutsu and Taijutsu or Genjutsu and Taijutsu. It would be fairly rare for one to be strong in all 3 or Ninjutsu and Genjutsu. Makoto would notice the girl talking to him as the first thing he was focused on were her breasts. She pronounced his name extremely slow making him feel quite iffy about her but it was nothing that had to do with the battle. She would ask to team with him as he would just look at her not saying a word. He didn’t speak on the matter at all. Teaming up with her insured their win against the Uchiha. Although she didn’t know this, Makoto was more of an distance fighter, and from the look of her scythe she was close. He doubted the Uchiha could handle the both of them. But what about when they defeat the Uchiha, he would have to face the girl on his own and from the looks of what she specializes in she had to be either extremely strong or fast or both for that matter. Makoto wouldn’t know if he could handle her on his own. He began thinking to himself as the proctor finished his speech about who knows what. Makoto was too lost in his head to know. The first movement from any of them would be the Uchiha running towards the pond, it wouldn’t have made sense for an Fire based Uchiha to take defense near a pond seeing that that would go against them. If it was Earth, Kosuke wouldn’t have went to the pond specifically and Wind was almost rare to Uchiha. This left Water or lightning in Makoto’s head. Water being he’s near a pond so he will be able to use his abilities to the max. Lightning being that water enhances the lightning’s strength giving anyone and automatic KO if they are hit by it. Makoto would look at Rei as she did some kind of hand signals towards him, he wasn’t quite sure what they meant but if he was to guess it was probably something about Kosuke that Makoto didn’t know about. She would also distance herself from her starting point. Makoto would back up slowly almost walking keeping an eye on both opponents. More of Rei than anyone, the fact that she was willing to team was either 1 of 3 things. 1) She was scared. 2) She was strong. 3) She wanted to ensure her victory in the exams. Makoto would go with the 3rd one for now seeing that her personality said that she wasn’t scared. He would take his hands out of his pocket and get down on one knee, putting his hands together coming up with a plan, there was no water around him, just patches of grass and some dirt. It was all so sudden all Makoto would see was her body face towards Kos as she sprinted with her scythe aimed at Kos’ mid section. If he were to be hit, they would have to stop the exams due to the endangerment of blood loss. Makoto wouldn’t join that fight quite yet. At the moment he was feeling quite lazy and he would instead keep his hands together trying to fool the enemy as if he was charging chakra to pull out some bad ass jutsu. But really he would wait for one of them to eliminate the other meaning he only had to face 1. By the time they would come for them they would be down some chakra giving Makoto the upper hand.

Kosuke’s eyes narrowed as the blue girl, Rei, distanced herself from the Nara, Makoto, and then dashed at him going very fast. He would have a very hard time dodging the swing she seemed to be aiming at him with that massive scythe. He couldn’t go to the sides, because with the way she held it during her charge, she was going for a horizontal slash, and up or down was out of the question as he would then be forced to engage her at close range. So he settled for the quickest thing he could, diving backwards into the pond. If she doesn’t hit him, it would be very close. He would land in the water and allow himself to sink down rather deep to refocus his thoughts before doing some hand seals and covering the medium sized field with a thick, heavy mist. It almost covered the entire field, leaving only about five meters from the wall open. He would then climb out of the pool on the opposite side of the deranged woman. She seemed oddly interested in his death before the match, and any interest in his death is way too much for Kosuke. So he decided he would try to stay as far away from her as possible. He then had an Idea! Kosuke formed a cross seal and in a discrete poof of smoke a shadow clone appeared. Its goal was to both attack to defeat, but MOSTLY to assess the skills of the blue girl. While Kosuke ran to the opposite direction, His clone ran around the pond with the goal of blind siding the scythe wielding girl.

Rei had begun her attack, and yet Makoto hadn't done anything but kneel down on one knee and watch. It was possible that he was charging chakra for a strong attack, but it was more probable that Makoto was just waiting for her and Kosuke to wear each other down. Odds were that Makoto was indeed charging an attack and planned to use it on the opportune moment where he could at least take one of them out. Either way, Rei had just rationalized Makoto out of the possibility of teaming up. At the least, for now, Rei was going to have to fight Kosuke alone. As she closed in and swung her scythe in a horizontal slash at the boys center mass, she knew that the attack could potentially kill him- this was to be a serious fight. She was skilled enough to know where she could and couldn't strike him, she didn't intend to kill either of the participants during the exam. Their lifespans were not out of time, rather, they had quite a bit of time left: this told Rei that she wouldn't kill them accidentally. But if she intentionally tried to kill them, their lifespan's numbers could suddenly change. There was little need to hold back, but for now, she was playing the testing game to feel out her opponents.

Makoto was hanging back and being cautious, this implied to Rei, that he did indeed favor ranged battles. As her scythe aimed for Kosuke's torso, the Genin did his best to avoid being fatally wounded by falling backwards and barely dodging the sharp edge. That was enough for Rei to gauge the Uchiha's speed. The Uchiha boy fell backwards and into the pond behind him, likely a part of the Genin's strategy from the start, although he probably hadn't anticipated nearly being sliced in half. Rei wondered how that would have played out if she had used her full speed instead of fifty percent of it. This wasn't the time for thinking: as Kosuke fell back into the water, Rei contemplated following him and ending the fight before it could escalate. But that might have been part of Kosuke's plan, if she followed him and she fell for his trap- it could be an easy win for the Uchiha. She decided to wait. Soon after Kosuke fell into the water, a mist began to fill the air. This was likely the work of Kosuke, Rei took a glance behind her to ensure Makoto was still stationary- he was.

The mist was unnatural, a jutsu for camouflage that she couldn't allow in this environment. At least, not a camouflage to their advantage. With her dominant hand, she reached out and the marks in her hand began to glow softly. With the bottom mark, she absorbed much of the mist before Kosuke emerged from underneath the water. With the top mark on her hand, she released the mist once again as Kosuke emerged and created a shadow clone. The mist stretched out quickly and twice as thick, covering the full extent of the arena in a thick fog. The water was thick in the fog, moisture wetting Rei's nose even as she sniffed. Her eyes picked up the movement of both Kosuke and his shadow clone. At first, she didn't seem to know what it was- his life force had split suddenly, one weaker than the other. He means to ambush me... The thing about an ambush, is the attackers were almost always certain their attacks would be effective- especially in a concealed environment. Her gaze followed the shadow clone after she noted how Kosuke ran in the opposite direction. The clone ran around the edge of the pond, silently and swiftly as it neared the position she had just been spotted at. Rei hadn't moved at all, still as a statue after glancing back at Makoto to ensure he was still watching. Likely, after having the mist envelope him, he had taken a more defensive stance and moved positions to avoid being picked off in the mist.

She waited till the shadow clone neared her, her shoulder to the clone as she seemed to be appearing down into the pond as if she was still waiting for Kosuke to emerge in the short sight-seeing distance the fog allowed. Suddenly, she would turn with her full speed and a quick swing of her scythe around the shadow clone's neck: the movement would be so swift that it would appear the Kosuke's shadow clone as though she had not even moved or turned to look in his direction. While Rei was not fully familiar with the use and benefits of the shadow clone technique, she knew that Kosuke was using it as a method to gain more information about the mysterious blue girl, as well as an attempt to slow her down and possibly injure her. However much information Kosuke had gained from the shadow clone after it disappeared, Rei couldn't be certain- but she wasn't going to allow him to keep testing it on her and find a weakness in the thick and heavy mist.

Forward she went at a diagonal direction as she silently glided across the top of the water and int he direction of the retreating Kosuke. Still going at her half-pace, she would catch up behind him in a matter of a couple seconds and swing at him again, this time low and from behind in the blinding mist. Her aim, was at his legs- an attempt to maim his movements by potentially cutting off one of his legs. While gruesome, it was effective and a medical shinobi could re-attach the limb once the fight had concluded. She aim was indeed to take his leg, and while she had comfortably approached him from behind in the mist, her attack had been done with its full fury and speed. If her attack was successful, the Genin Uchiha would most likely be finished with the exam, unable to walk and loss of blood would weaken him considerably.

Having absorbed Kosuke's technique, Rei intuitively knew the boy's elemental affinities, as well as his physical abilities. He was physically on par with most Genin shinobi, but what was unusual about him was his affinity to a rare element, the element of crystals. A potential problem in the future, one she wished to prevent from use in this Chuunin Exam. With her eyes, should could see the outline of the boy's body, with his accelerated pulsing chakra like a fog light in the mist. Makoto, still a good distance away and likely un-informed of what was happening inside the mist. With any luck, the Nara would hear the blood-curdling scream of agony soon enough, that would unnerve him and make it easier for Rei to attack him in the blinding mist as he focused on more inward fears rather than his surroundings.

Makoto would watch closely as the two engaged in battle, both of them were quick although Makoto could see the area around them move, he would notice as the Uchiha dove into the water right before the 2 collided. He would have to move quickly, there was telling what would happen next.  Makoto judged by her speed wasn’t going to be able to dodge this jutsu. He would watch as the she sliced through the clone as the mist covered the rest of what was to happen. Makoto would shadow travel to hers just as he remembered he looked at it from a couple moments ago. She was on water at the moment. He would fly out of the shadow forming a Rat seal, his shadow would travel just before he landed aiming straight ahead where he anticipated she would go as there was no reason to be swerving on a pond she obviously had some way of seeing Kosuke, she wouldn’t have heard a single thing until he hit the water .  By then the shadow would have caught her and if not it would be extremely close, as it moved way faster than the speed she was moving at. If he caught her Makoto knew this would be it for the exams, he was almost sure he could beat Kosuke, it seemed as if his strongest moves were supports, not good for the exams.

Kosuke ran as fast as he could, his clone disappearing into the mist behind him. It seemed the girl could absorb jutsu, this was very troublesome as he was not about to try close ranging her after seeing the speed with which she moved. And the other player in this exams is still a total unknown. He made it out of the mist with just enough time to catch his breath for a moment. He activated his sharingan and then suddenly receiver memories from his now very dead clone that would haunt him for a while. The girl didn't do anything and his clone died. She didn't seem surprised by its death, at least from what he could see in his last few milliseconds. So he stared hard into the mist, he could see better with his sharingan activated, but far from perfect. He was out of the mist though, so looking in was a lot more difficult. Suddenly she popped out swinging her scythe low, going for his legs. He also heard something hit the water and she stopped. It seemed the other player had joined the fray based on the shadow now attached to her. He hoped that Makoto was going for a temporary team up in order to take out the most dangerous player here. He then backpedaled a little further before turning an using the best jutsu he had for taking out this woman. He used the crystal needle technique and placing his right palm on the ground he made crystals rise around her, and hold her tightly. Kosuke hoped she couldn't somehow absorb these as they were physical constructs, not just chakra. He would then take a moment to observe what will happen.

Rei was certain her attack would succeed, however, she was not a carefree or stupid person. Even during her movements in slaying Kosuke's shadow clone, as well as pursuing the real Kosuke, Rei had glanced back many times at Makoto to ensure he wasn't moving. Her initial attack to take one of Kosuke's legs, would be thwarted, as Rei had glanced behind her before her attack and noticed Makoto's chakra. The Nara's chakra flared red and the pulsing elevated through the mist: this represented intentions of putting ones self at risk, or violence. Even as she realized Makoto intended to enter the battle to his own advantage, his form suddenly twisted and was enveloped by the shadows, the chakra of the shadows clearly visble to her and her eyes easily being able to keep up with the movements since Makoto was only moving at half her normal speed. His intention was to intercept her attack of Kosuke and likely use one of the infamous shadow techniques to end her: the Nara were intelligent and careful, only acting when they were assured victory, or at least very high probability.

Rei rushed on ahead at Kosuke like she had been doing, seeming to pay no mind to Makoto as he rushed up behind her with greater speed than she was currently using. She ht the edge of the mist around the same time that Makoto caught up with her, well- shortly behind anyways. While Kosuke was just standing there, his sharingan eyes had been activated and his red chakra had elevated even further. Both Kosuke and Makoto were aiming for her, taking out the most lethal and then having an evenly matched fight. Continuing her attack would be useless and only damage her chances of victory, so just as she and Makoto both cleared the mist, close but not quite close enough for his shadows- for which she had increased her speed to sixty. She out-stepped him and turned on him suddenly: a rear swing of her arm as she evaded further backwards towards Kosuke and threw her scythe at Makoto and slowed down as he and his shadows closed in.

As their shadows met, Makoto would feel a solid hold of her body- but truth be told, Rei was no longer in that position. Having left his own shadow travel technique to go into offence to seal her movements, he had returned to his original speed. What was in front of the Nara and currently engaged in the Shadow Imitation technique, was one of Rei's physical illusions used to fool Makoto into a sense of victory. Her throwing of the scythe had seemed to be nothing more than a last-effort to stop his from gaining too much proximity. The real Rei would appear behind Makoto Nara and catch her scythe as it sailed passed the bowl. She jerked hard on the handle and turned the direction of the scythe sharply with the intent of stabbing clean through the boy's gut from the left side of his ribs with the curved blade of the scythe. Meanwhile, her illusion would have been mimic'ing whatever Makoto had ntended to do during the process.

With one of the two other participants out of her way and suffering from a grievous wound, what was left was the Uchiha boy who had activated his sharngan and used a crystal technique as well on her illusion in an attempt to tag-team her for the purpose of defeat. The thing was, with his sharingan activated, it was more easy to keep up with Rei's relaxed speed pace. If she wanted to gain the upper hand and win without the Uchiha having a chance to counter her, she needed to hit him hard and fast like she had intended previously. The distance between them now was minimal, a fallen Makoto between them just outside the edge of the mist. The mist itself began to fade, thinning and lightening so that once again the proctor could see what was happening, as well as all the spectators who could be herd murmuring or "boo'ing" for not getting to see any action. Surely the sight of one fallen Genin was enough to either excite them, or arouse anger for missing the moment of defeat.

With her scythe in hand and only about fifteen feet between them, Rei lunged forward suddenly- her body splitting into two forms as she close the distance in less than a second- each form slicing forward with the scythes. These two were illusions and only physical illusions which were following Rei's actual action. While the illusions were capable of being damaged to fool enemies, they were also capable of brief damage as well. The Illusions moved at a speed of sixty in such close proximity with long-reaching weapons, that Kosuke might have been able to track them with his eyes, but they had cut off his escape route- a scythe close in from each side in an attempt to slice him to ribbons. The real Rei, had already attacked during the Uchiha's moment of perception. With her full speed, she had changed her route after the initial strike for the illusions and left them to keep Kosuke's attention. Her speed was un-perceivable by the boy, who was more agile than the Nara, but not fast enough. In one moment, there had been two Rei's attacking Kosuke- who had very little time to defend from such a quick and reaching attack. The next minute, there were three Rei's, two who had attacked frontal and on both sides of the boy, and the real Rei who had rushed passed Kosuke in the blink of the eye, the long curved edge of her scythe aiming to dig into his abdomen from behind.

Makoto could feel the shadow weakening, it wasn’t so smart to set this up in the mist he wouldn’t have a strong chance from that range. He would retreat her shadow as he held up the sign still just in case within that same thought he felt a gust of wind past the left side of his body. ‘Got her ‘ He thought to himself just as he was getting slashed with the scythe only about 3-4 inches deep. Makoto would smile as blood oozed out of his bottom lip. He got her. Although he still got cut in the process their shadows still connected giving Makoto full control. He would move to his right in pain as the scythe came out smoothly with his blood dripping all over it, at this point he only had a matter of minutes till he passed out from blood loss. As he moved he already knew what had happen. As she swung with great power, but just as the scythe hit the shirt Makoto would begin the process of stopping it throughout their shadows, although the momentum of the girl would continue through the swing but not as strong seeing that Makoto was in the process of stopping therefore cutting through some muscle tissue and breaking a rib. The pain was quite strong but Makoto had a pretty high tolerance and was able to focus his mind on the fight. The mist would begin to fade as the shadow began to get stronger. Makoto would gesture throwing the scythe in the water making her do the same thing. His hands would be quick and swift as he would be completing the hand seals. Makoto’s hands would light up in light blue color chakra, if the girl was smart she would know what ninjutsu this was. Although Makoto was 99% sure she didn’t know this technique. The chakra wasn’t just like any chakra, it appeared as a razor. Makoto would move his hands towards her shoulders, tearing her rotator cuff in both sides as Makoto would feel the girl touch him as well but nothing would happen. He would then reach down moving his head to the right as hers would move to the left in his view he would reach and hit each calf immobilizing her. This makes Rei a non factor to Makoto as he would disconnect the shadow as his hands began to darken from the glow until the glow was nonexistent.  He would take off his shirt leaving his bare chest as the blood continued to seep from his wound, he wrapped his t shirt around the wound and tied it tightly leaving it to apply pressure. He would then stare at Kosuke, his eyes filled with hatred.

(OOC: Due to the rolling of Makoto’s die, being a “99”, the post above where he counters the attack, yet is still injured stands as current events.)

Kosuke’s eyes widened as the Nara was able to catch Rei in his shadow and used some strange jutsu to cut her, but no outward damage seemed to show. This worried Kosuke as that was a very troublesome technique. His Sharingan eyes narrowed, showing that he was paying close attention to the happenings in front of him. He then saw Makoto turn towards him with a fiery hatred burning in his eyes. Kosuke stared back impassively, not wanting to give the opponent any leeway to use. Kosuke would then begin to saturate the air with a lot of chakra, then forming the ram seal, around 100 crystal shuriken began to form floating in the air around Kosuke. He immediately sprung to action, sending them all covering an 8 meter span straight towards Makoto. They are all travelling at a speed of 40. Once the shuriken were sent, Kosuke took a deep breath and formed a couple more hand seals before crystals shot straight towards Makoto at a speed of 60, these were sent in the distraction of the Shuriken hoping one of them would at least slow him down some. Kosuke had to show his strength here. Once he sent that jutsu, his Sharingan deactivated and he fell to one knee panting. He knew he had little chakra left, he couldn’t perform anymore jutsu, and he knew, from the way the Nara handled the scythe girl, close combat was out completely. He had to think of something fast, he really didn’t want to forfeit.

PostSubject: Re: Let the Exams begin!   Fri Mar 04, 2016 1:16 am

(OOC: Makoto's roll was for counter of my Illusion-step, not of the post-actions. Thus it isn't final how that moment turned out, I am afforded the opportunity to defend myself since it is still within my capability.)

Rei's illusion technique was quite effective, her corporeal illusions were most effective into luring opponents into a false sense of victory and dropping their guard. That was when she was to strike, just as in this situation. Naturally, her technique was a dual-edged blade, as was her weapon in meaning alone. The weakness to throwing her weapon was that it lacked both the precision, as well as a drop in her speed. Though she naturally slower without the weapon, it had become a crutch to her and not having it on her person, made her feel somewhat lethargic and unaccustomed to how "normal" she really was. Her Dullahan scythe was an extension of her, a part of her and without it, she was vulnerable. She had taken a chance, a large one when combating a Nara at such close range. The Nara were perceptive and intelligent, cautious and attacked only when they were assured of victory. Makoto's attack had been seen as near-perfect from Rei's perspective, hence her use of the Illusion Turnstep. Yet despite her use of a physical illusion to both fool the Nara's technique and perception, even though she was still the quicker of the two, the Nara had somehow noticed her and had time to react with his shadow that he had just withdrawn from her illusion and then turn it on her real self. As she had appeared behind him and grabbed her weapon, the damage she had intended to deal to the Genin was lessened as she felt the shadows weaken the force of the attack's momentum. The sharp curved blade of the scythe still hit its mark, but with minimal damage. At the same time, Rei felt herself lose control of her own motor functions as the shadow of her scythe had connected to the Nara boy's. Blood trickled out of the boy's mouth from internal bleeding, yet his smile was smug, he grimaced through the pain to complete his plan. Rei had intended to slice clean through the boy with her curved blade to prevent unnecessary blood loss, but the half-stab he suffered couldn't be blocked with her thin sharp blade. Had her weapon got straight through, the thin blade would have stopped the bleeding until she had taken it out and continued her advance on the Uchiha boy who had used crystal techniques to immobilize her illusion- which disappeared almost right after it was trapped.

Ever the smart Nara... she cursed to herself silently, then attempted to break free of the control by overpowering the boy's shadows. Speed was not her only asset in combat, though many did and would still make this mistake in the past by believing this. Chakra surged through Rei's body, bolstering her physical strength to match the difficulty the shadows held on her. The effects were instant as her strength was suddenly increased but she refrained from resisting. Though her body was less durable than others, it was resilient in unconventional ways. Makoto used his shadows to gesture her to throw her weapon in the water, with which she complied with a perplexed expression on her face as she felt the weapon once again leave her grasp. Next, Makoto performed handseals skillfully, Rei mimic'ing his motion but neither activating chakra, nor knowing the technique he was using. Medical Ninjutsu was not somewhat she had familiarized herself with. Why worry about healing and saving others when she only wanted to experience their deaths?

The rest of the attack was easy enough for Rei to guess. The boy had applied a dangerous amount of chakra onto his hand and intended to do her bodily harm with it, likely ending their conflict since he believed she to be completely incapacitated. His blue chakra infused hand moved forward at her torso as she mimic'd his attack: with a sudden resistance, she used her strength to free herself of his shadow as he attacked in mid-motion, her raised arms going into position and countering with superior speed. As Makoto lunged forward with his chakra scalpal attack, she turned her led shoulder to Makoto to reduce the overall mass with which Makoto could effectively damage her. Rei's arms staggered, her leading arm raised near her chin as her rear arm was brought diagonal to her chest to protect her torso. Her leading foot turned up at the heel while her rear foot a couple inches back.

As Makoto leaned into the strike, Rei leaned backward on her rear foot and reached forward with her rear arm and grabbed Makoto's wrist, pulling him off-balance as her leading arm was brought down into an elbow strike at Makoto's elbow joint with enough force to uproot trees and shatter bones with minimal effort. If successful, her strike would have been enough to render the boy's arm useless. Suffering a serious stab wound by her scythe and having a shattered elbow joint, his attack with the chakra scalpal had been foiled. Having brought serious damage to the Nara, incapable of effectively performing handseals now and carrying a nasty wound to his mid-torso, it would only be a matter of time before the boy would succumb to blood loss, unable to continue fighting in his current condition. Rei would circumvent his leading side as she would circle around Makoto, placing his body between her and the line of site of Kosuke. She used that moment to dive into the water while out of his immediate sight and retrieve her scythe. On the surface, where Kosuke stood over fifteen feet away, Rei was not to be seen around Makoto, nor underneath the water's surface. Only the weakened Makoto would be an easy target for the Uchiha boy, should he have continued to attack. Rei would quickly retrieve her weapon from the water, as her fingers grasped around the handle, she immediately felt "whole" again, more agile but somewhat tired from the use of chakra. Dealing with the Nara had required more effort than she had anticipated. She regretted going slower and tried to gauge Makoto and Kosuke's physical prowes: next time, she would just go straight for brutality. If they or anyone tried to counter with jutsu, she would rely on her Meiton to counter as well as ascertain their capabilities. Now how she was supposed to finish off the uchiha boy, she wasn't sure. Of the three, he was the least wounded or fatigued from chakra usage.

Makoto’s attack had failed, he would curse underneath his breath as he laid on the water. This was done by moving his chakra to the right side of his body, the part he laid upon. All the spectator knew he was out. He would rise up not looking like a punk and move to the medical pick up. Such a disappointment to the clan he thought to himself as he closed his eyes. He woke up in the medical room someone working on arm and someone working on the side he had been cut on. They were major injuries but nothing he couldn’t recover from. He would close his eyes again to rest, he put up a good battle.

PostSubject: Re: Let the Exams begin!   Fri Mar 04, 2016 6:36 pm

(OOC: due to the way the above happened, my post is pretty void. So im gonna start from where Rei leaves off with all my chakra lost in my earlier post regained.)

Kosuke's eyes widened as he observed the quick thinking of Makoto. He managed to catch the crazy scythe girl in his shadow jutsu. But, Nara were known for working off of plan after plan, Though, Kosuke would definately be dead, or wounded if it wasnt for the quick actions of the Nara. He would have to thank him some day for giving him the opportunity to survive in these exams. Kosuke would then turn his attention to the Balor girl as she took out Makoto as he went in for some form of medical attack. She seemed to have cut him with her scythe and he was bleeding pretty badly, but then, seeing her eyes steel, she broke his arm and left him bleeding out. He then would get up and make his way to be carried off by medical ninja towards the Chowagakure hospital. She would then dive into the water, probably to retrieve her scythe. Kosuke used this moment of rest to get a few more meters away from the Balor girls location in the pond. He would then prepare some handseals and a massive crystal dragon would begin to rise under him. Lifting him high into the air. Now he was nearly 30 meters from the pond and almost 20 meters high resting on the head of the dragon. Its glowing red eyes seeming to reflect Kosuke's own sharingan. It was poised to strike, waiting for the girl to come out of the pond. Kosuke knew he was almost out of chakra, but he had to keep fighting, he had to win this!

PostSubject: Re: Let the Exams begin!   Mon Mar 07, 2016 10:57 am

OOC:(I forgot Genin had 200 chakra & Ive been going based off of a 100 chakra pool "thinking" lol so Im actually at 115 chakra this psot nstead of just 15)

The Nara, Makoto had succumbed to his wounds and lack of chakra. Even as Rei had skirted around the Genin and underneath the water to retrieve her weapon, Makoto had fallen back on the water, barely conscious, but enough to keep himself afloat. The lifeline numbers above his head hadn't changed at all, so he wasn't in any danger of dying from those wounds. He did however, pass out. Medical shinobi had appeared in a flash to retrieve the boy and take him off to the medical station to ensure that he did not suffer permanent damage. While Rei was emerging from the water's surface, Makoto had already been taken away quickly and the Uchiha Kosuke had gained ground between them and used a crystal technique. A crystal dragon began to rise from beneath Kosuke's feet as Rei stood up on solid ground at the water's edge. It rose high, a good twenty meters above its starting point and with Kosuke atop its head. The distance between them was about thirty meters, a safe distance to attack from with mid-ranged techniques or overwhelming and quick techniques. In this case, Rei assumed that the dragon would be used for a massive technique, though she hardly expected the dragon itself could move very fast.

With her eyes, she could see that the life force within the boy was much weaker than it had been at the start of the battle, and especially before this last technique. This crystal dragon jutsu was a considerably powerful jutsu, one that Rei couldn't afford to be careless about. With the uchiha so close to being depleted of chakra, all she had to do was postpone being struck by the dragon. As she had climed out of the water and saw the dragon, it was posed to strike at her position. As the dragon would strike, it would be more agile than Rei had first expected, though naturally as a serpent, it was capable of being both agile and limber. A truly difficult technique to counter for someone limited to physical combat. If only Rei had been able to be above the water's surface and prepare for the technique before it manifested, she could had turned it against the boy and ended the exams quickly. While Rei could feel fatigue, it was negligible, she actually felt less tired than she had thought herself earlier. These two fights had been exhilerating and though they were still technically enemies, she respected both the Nara and the Uchiha's battle skills even if they were one hundred years younger than her. During her time of imprisonment, ninjutsu had evolved greatly with the passing of the Sage's life.

As the dragon would strike, Rei would evade, not to the left or right, rather: she would evade by jumping straight up at the head where Kosuke was. The weakness to the technique the way the Uchiha boy used it, was that he made himself an easy target while remaining stationary on the dragon's head. If the technique was faster than the opponent, there wasn't much to worry about. But Rei still held a small advantage in the speed category against even the dragon. If she had hesitated at all, she probably would have several crushed bones and be laying helplessly on the surface of the water behind her, in a similar manner that Makoto had earlier. Though Rei was certain that Makoto would have tried to continue fighting if he had more chakra despite his wounds. Of course, she got the same impression from the Uchiha, though he was using a powerful technique as his last means of attack. The Dullahan girl had been happy that nether of them had died, which was a strange feeling to her, later she would summarize it up to her wanting to see how powerful these two shinobi would get before their precious moments of death found them. Still, it was a first feeling for her, feeling the desire for growth and maturity rather than immediate death.

If Kosuke continued much more however, he would be placing his own life in danger with how low his life force was. He still had plenty to do and show her how grand his death would be, but at a later date. All Rei could do for now, was to prevent him from using anymore jutsu to conserve his chakra, in a similar manner she had inadvertently saved Makoto. Naturally, both methods had involved the use of her reaping scythe. And of course, both methods involved making her opponent's hands incapable of performing handseals. The problem was, if Rei waited until after the crystal dragon technique passed, the Uchiha boy might have enough time to perform another technique or further his own life endangerment. That was when Rei had decided that there was only once effective course of action and she would have to take it. As she had jumped up, quicker than the dragon's posed strike, Rei knew that she too made herself a target by placing herself in front of the boy. He was lower on chakra though and would likely hesitate because his options by now werre extremely limited. Her will came into motion as she had jumped up however, two of her illusions had appeared beside her and landed on the head of the dragon. With the sharingan eyes, Kosuke was capable of barely following the real Rei's movements, which Rei had anticipated. The real weakness of this exam was that her two opponents had come from famous clans where their abilities were widely known or assumed. Unlike them, Rei came from a clan which had been forgotten over one hundred years ago.

As her two illusions touched down only a couple feet in front of Kosuke's position, the real Rei had used her top speed to dash above and behind Kosuke. The way she had used her illusions to fool them in the passed few minutes, both Makoto and Kosuke knew that the illusions were meant mostly to distract her opponent. But neither had witnessed their ability to actually physically harm anything. That was the key to Rei's impending victory. with the Uchiha's ability to follow her movements with his gifted eyes, she would have drawn his attention in an alarming way as she vaulted over him and landed gracefully at the base of the dragon's crystal skull- her scythe up and swinging downward in an arcing diagonal slash meant for his chest. Her attack was merely the bluff this time, though it posed real danger to the boy. Her two illusions had also struck with her, but from the opposite side of him. One aimed for his non-dominant arm, while the second aimed at his legs with their scythes.

Kosuke saw Rei bolt towards him, splitting again. He knew his chakra was almost depleted. He needed to get away from her. She came straight at his torso while one clone went for his legs and one was aimed at his left arm. He knew he would be unable to dodge them all, especially in his current state. He focused the last of his energy and jumped to the left, his dragon breaking apart, not being held together by chakra any longer. He was able to dodge the swipe at his legs, but the main scythe drug a long ugly gash diagonally across his chest and the other clone managed to hook his right arm at the shoulder. Slicing through bone, muscle, tendons ad flesh as though butter. Kosuke's world turned white as shock, and then exhaustion overcame him. When he finally woke back up, he was definitely in a hospital room. And he couldn't feel his arm...

Glancing to his right, he saw doctors connecting some tubes and wires into his arm, placing some form of metal prosthetic to take it's place. He was now faced with a harsh reality. He no longer had his natural right arm, why they couldn't get it from the field was a mystery. But now he knew he had a prosthetic one. He winced and screamed out in unimaginable pain as they attached the wires to his nerve endings, effectively returning a strange familiar yet so different feeling to his right limb. He knew of these prosthetics, they wer designed by ninja, for ninja. They were tough and even allowed one to mold chakra, but they didn't feel natural anymore. For a moment he remembered that girl.. Rei Balor.. He felt both hatred and confusion. Was this what she meant, asking him about his death? Could she see the future? Could her eyes see more than his? His world faded to black as his mind swarmed with questions.

Chakra- 0/200

(OOC: GREAT exams guys! it was a pleasure and I hope we can all do some good CD together in the future too using this experience.)

It was but a moment, a well timed and quickly escalating moment in which Kosuke evaded in the best and worst way he could with so little chakra in reserve. Even as he evaded, a deep gash went across his chest from Rei's scythe and his dominant hand dropped to the ground with a sickening sound as her illusions faded. Whether he had registered the loss of the hand, Rei didn't know. For the boy had suddenly fallen unconscious after the second grievous wound. It was clear who the victor was and Rei didn't wish to add insult to injury, especially while within the walls and protection of another village.

The crystal dragon had collapsed as the Uchiha boy had lost control of its physical form due to the lack of chakra. Only hovering a few feet above the ground where Re had previously stood, neither participants were hurt further by the short fall. The unconscious boy suffered less because his body was completely relaxed and didnt suffer fall damage. Rei of course, comfortably landed on her feet and watched passively as two medical shinobi appeared to rush the defeated genin off to the infirmary. One grabbed the boy and the other went to grab the nearby severed hand. As soon as the shnobi's fingers touched the still warm lump of flesh, Rei's scythe wrapped around the shinobi's neck and stopped him from grabbing it. That belongs to me. she said in an intimidating voice and only removed the scythe when the medical shinobi released their hold on the hand and retreating backwards with concern and assisted the first medical shinobi in carrying the unconscious boy and stop the bleeding of his amputated arm. They would have to resuscitate him and find a suitable prosthetic since the Yami-nin had claimed the severed arm as a trophy.

Rei grabbed the hand up and wrapped it in her own ripped clothing and stuffed it in a pocket, seemingly unphased by the gruesome prospect of it all. Some applauded her violent and straight-forward nature, while others were disgusted and concerned with the winner of the Chuunin exams. Yamigakure had only one participant- just like the other two main villages: yet Yamkigakure's shinobi was unnaturally brutal and dark. Merciless and didn't care for life or morality. From the mixed sounds in the crowd, Rei knew that she had represented her village well. A smile grim smile appeared across her blue lips as she bowed to the crowd, which elicited louder applause and protests. It wouldn't be much longer now before the proctor of the exam would appear again to give his judgement.
