PostSubject: Moments of Despair, introduction into darkness.   Wed Mar 16, 2016 4:56 pm

Kosuke had awoken in the middle of the night due to the raging thunderstorm outside. He had nightmares numerous times for the last couple of weeks, all centering on his father. It seemed the man had truly ruined Kosuke’s life to the point that he couldn’t even sleep. Deciding to stay up for a while, he made himself some sake and went to sit by the window that looked towards the Uchiha district. He could make out the top corner of the main families house. Thinking of his father made him start to remember the many memories that he had with the man. From his early childhood, and on into his current age, the man had always been there, in both a positive and negative manner. Though, usually it was more of a negative way. Honestly, the only positive part of the man, was that he had imparted a small amount of his knowledge to Kosuke and had shown him the locations of various important Uchiha artifacts.

Remembering some of the dreams, Kosuke sighed and decided it would be best to sort through them while he was awake. Glancing out the window, he started to remember. “A young seven year old Kosuke trotted around the house looking for his mother. He loved the woman, and she loved him. The only issue was, his father often beat her or scolded her for showing him affection. Whenever he found her, she usually had a small smile on her face and a few dark bruises shown on her body. This time however, her eyes looked distant and her smile was gone. The young Kosuke walked up to her, ‘Mother, are you alright?’ he asked in an innocent childlike manner. ‘Leave that woman alone boy, she will only make you weak with her love and coddling.’ Came the spiteful voice of his father.” That was the day that changed everything for Kosuke. From that day on, his mother never looked at him. He hardly ever saw her, and when he did her eyes never even waivered towards him. His father had truly broken her.

Thinking forwards in time a little ways, he frowned. The day his father trained him to fully mature his Sharingan. The man had acted almost proud at how ruthless his son had acted. This was not the way Kosuke wanted the man to be proud of him. “Once he made his way into the main household, he found the secret stone tablet that only a select few were made privy to. Underneath it was none other than the most ancient and sacred area to the Uchiha clan, the Naka shrine. Kosuke had never seen the shrine himself, but it was said that only a fully matured Sharingan could make out its words. In an adjacent cavern to the shrine, was an underground training field kept up by many complex seals. Seals that repair the field after a training session, seals that silenced the area and that blocked even the Byakugan from gazing inside. All in all, it was a perfect private training ground. Kosuke performed the hand seals and then activated his Sharingan glancing at the stone tablet. It slowly slid out the way, allowing Kosuke to descend a flight of stairs, deep underground. The tablet covered the entrance back, Kosuke paying it no mind as he continued his trek towards the training field.

Once entering the room, he found his father there, waiting for him. The man was tall, with long hair and a solid jawline. He was broad and heavily muscled, boasting many scars from battles long passed. He wore a white battle kimono that bore a Sharingan design wrapping around the bottom, sleeves and middle. With the Uchiha fan crest largely printed on the back side of the kimono. He had a stern scowl on his face and a hardened look in his eye. Kosuke immediately bowed when he was in front of his father. “Rise. I have brought you here to train your skills to be befitting of the heir to the Uchiha clan. We will now work to raise your base skills such as perception with the Sharingan and reaction time to threats. You must be able to identify and then react to a threat almost before it even presents itself to you. You must be able to see through any and all attacks coming your way, and then be able to dispose of the enemy in a swift manner. Your performance in the Chuunin Exams was pitiful, that girl was holding back and she still took your arm.” He said with a disapproving gaze.

Kosuke stiffened, he knew his father was right, he had grown too overconfident. He tightened his metal right fist, ‘feeling’ the bandages shift with his motion. He suddenly registered a slight movement of his father and was barely able to lift said arm in time to block a downward strike from a red katana. His father had decided to get down to business, alright then, he would too. His Sharingan blazing to life, extending his own personal sword out of the prosthetic, guiding it out with his chakra distributed by his left hand. His blade fully extended he blocked another two strikes before going on the offensive. He was no master of blades, but he was able to push even his father back with effort. He was suddenly aware of the world around him shifting, becoming a tad lighter. He found himself pulled into a Genjutsu. Though he couldn’t see through it for some reason.

Looking around he was still in the training ground, but he suddenly jumped back as he was barely able to avoid a slice from a rather familiar scythe. His eyes narrowed as he glanced over and saw a being from his nightmares, it made his right arm throb with imaginary pain. Standing where his father had been only moments before was none other than, Rei Balor. Hatred began to swim in his vision, wanting nothing more than to get vengeance over the loss of his arm, he had to calm himself down, and anger would only get him wounded or killed. Thinking of how fast she was only made him more nervous, his speed had improved since the exams, but surely hers had as well. He could barely keep track of her movements as he barely evaded swipe after strike from that blasted scythe.

As he continued to dodge, he noted that she was not moving the same way she had during the exams. In the exams, she had moved with grace befitting a woman, and a skill that showed mastery over her weapon of choice. While now she was moving much more power oriented and with steps more befitting a skilled swordsman. He then saw a swipe coming hard and fast he couldn’t do anything to block it, when suddenly t slowed down significantly. He could track it much easier and suddenly the world shattered and he saw his father swinging a sword at him instead of a scythe. Raising his own blade to parry, then kicking off of his father’s blade and jumping back far enough to gain an advantage.

Focusing his chakra he withdrew his blade and ran through hand seals at a rapid pace. His father rushing towards him, unaware at the technique being used. Kosuke then spat out five small water bullets heading at high speed towards his father, and the most likely directions he was to dodge in.  The bullets grew closer and closer to his father before suddenly he blurred out of existence, Kosuke could barely see him as he reappeared several meters away. It seemed he had used a technique that didn’t require seals to speed himself up drastically or to switch places with something. Either way he had dodged Kosuke’s attack and was now resuming his charge. Kosuke knew he had to catch the man off guard, so he formed two clones and they all three charged the man.

The first clone sent shuriken and kunai at him as a means of distraction while the second clone sent some more water bullets. Suddenly crystals sprouted up around Kosuke’s father from the ground. If he attempted to dodge, he would be impaled, so wisely he didn’t and was captured. Before he could think of his next plan of action, he glanced around and noticed he was surrounded by three very large crystal dragons. Deciding to end the match before Kosuke could end him, he told Kosuke their training was finished for the day. Suddenly the crystals shattered and he was free. “You performed well today my son, my initial reason for calling you here was to fully mature your Sharingan, but it seems as though your skills have matured since then as well. From now on, I want to train with you once a week. I will help you to become the best leader this clan has ever known.” His father said, Kosuke almost thought he detected a hint of pride in the man’s voice, but he waved it off. Agreeing to meet up a week from then, Kosuke made his way back towards his apartment, hoping to get some good rest and relaxation before his next training session.

The next session between the two was what really drove the boy to hate his father in the most evil of ways. Once he arrived he learned that his mother, whom he thought no longer loved him, had been revolting against the man. Trying to get free from his iron fist and get out to see Kosuke. In the time that he had known his mother, he had never thought she had been fighting to see him, until this day. “He had made it into the main house and was on his way to meet for his training with his father, when suddenly, he saw his mother on her way to somewhere else in the house. He tried to ignore the urge he had to rush over and hug her, but wat he saw when she looked at him startled him to the core. She looked at him with tears streaming down her face, with a look of pain in her eyes that he would never understand. But, as she opened her mouth to speak to him, after ten long years, she was slapped across the face. This slap held enough power to send her through a wall. Kosuke almost attacked the one responsible, until his father stepped out. ‘Don’t you dare speak to him you wench. He has begun to grow powerful finally after all this time, I will not have you tainting him with your foolishness.’ The man said in the most sinister tone Kosuke had ever heard. If he could have, he would have killed the man right there.

But since he couldn’t he merely had to watch as he pulled her up by her hair and spit in her face. Kosuke hated the man with a hate so pure, from that day forward that he had sworn to kill the man with his on two hands. During the training that followed, Kosuke went at the man with the intent to kill. Though he still hadn’t grown strong enough to do so, the man seemed to love this new ‘ruthless power’ that had been achieved and commended him for it, though Kosuke only got more and more angry. He had landed a few good punches on the man, but he wasn’t a Jounin level ninja for nothing. He could take the weak Chuunin Kosuke’s punches left and right and not feel anything from them. But after that day, Kosuke has held back as much hate for the one man, than he has for anything else in his entire life. He knew that he had fallen into the curse, but he didn’t care.

Thinking of that only made Kosuke more upset. He tried to think of some good memories, like he time he was hurt and went straight to his mother to get tended to, or the day he graduated. His father had actually been genuinely happy that day, and it was the first time he had seen his mother smile in a long time. Though, things went back to normal afterwards, Kosuke would always consider that his most precious memory of his family. He then thought back to the day he had been assigned to ‘protect’ Izuna. Neither of them were happy about it at first, but they had grown closer together. “He had been roused early by a messenger hawk pecking at his window. It had a scroll with the crest of the Uchiha clan etched into the side. So, it was from his father, how quaint. Deciding to read the message as he prepared some breakfast, he smeared blood across the seal. It rolled open to reveal a message, “Uchiha, Kosuke is to report to Lord Shu in the main family meeting room at 0900 hours. It is a matter of both village and familial importance, as such, formal dress is required. Lord Yoshida will also be in attendance, so come in a respectful manner.” He balled the paper up and threw it onto his coffee table. It was almost as if they knew him. Kosuke might be next in line as the Uchiha family heir, but he didn’t value family traditions like one might expect. But, alas, he had to look good in front of Yoshida-sama.

Throwing on an elegant black kimono and sash, adorned with the Sharingan, as opposed to the usual clan crest. He wrapped his metal arm in bandages, covering it up entirely, to anyone unaware of its presence, it looked like his regular arm except covered in bandages. He then put on his normal combat bottoms and ninja sandals. He tied his headband on his left arm in a more professional manner than usual, wanting to impress both his father and the Kage.

Finally making his way to the meeting hall, he entered to find his father was waiting for him. The man wore a white kimono adorned with elegant and over the top designs and of course the ever present clan emblem embroidered on his chest and back. His long black hair fell down to his mid back and his stern gaze met Kosuke’s in a war of the eyes. “You look presentable for once. Good. Yoshida-dono will be arriving shortly, it seems one of our distant relatives fell under attack from an enemy village. The Chowakage has requested that she be adopted into our family as she has exhibited a keen intellect and a desire to grow. Haruto assures me that she has a vast potential, and cold even awaken the Sharingan at any time. So I have decided that we will adopt her, and she will be placed in your care, you are to guard her and make sure she has the necessary skills to be a fitting kunoichi for the main family.” Kosuke’s eyes widened, “How am I supposed to guard this person at all times?” He asked with both a tone of annoyance and slight hostility towards his father. “She will be living with you from now on. And I would watch your tone BOY, you know to whom you speak.” He returned in an equally harsh manner.
” He then got his new roommate.

Glancing over to where she was sleeping he sighed. While his life was a little tragic, he knew some had it much worse. Thinking of these things he decided to go back to sleep. Though, his dream didn’t go quite the way he wanted it to. It started off as a memory of when he awakened his Sharingan. “Kosuke had just been assigned a mission. This was nothing new to the Uchiha as he had been taking missions for many months. This particular mission was a rare C-ranked kidnapping mission. It made him question the morality of the village on multiple occasions but he had forsaken morality when he had first become a Genin. Shinobi were people, no, sentinels whose only purpose in life is to defend the village and help it to gain power, at least that’s what they wanted you to believe. To Kosuke, being a shinobi was more than just safeguarding the village or kidnapping some kid to be used as breeding stock for the “good of the village,” no, to him it was about gaining power to put an end to the shinobi era and bring in a peaceful era. But, to do this he would need to endure the hardships, yes endure, because that is what a shinobi is, “one who endures.” He wanted to bring forth and era that a ninja no longer had to fear what lied around the corner or if his friend was going to stab him in the back, he wanted a safe, peaceful world for the next generation to live in. He had thought of ways to do this but he would need to gain support, and power. Both political and physical power would be required for changing and reshaping the shinobi world.

He glanced over to Fumiko, his longtime friend, rival and comrade. Fumiko was his second cousin, in the branch family of the Uchiha clan. He had been assigned to guard Kosuke since he was young but they became fast friends.  As they made their way out of the village, they exchanged some words with the guards and were on their way to the small village where the festival was being held. It was the Bijuu festival, a huge festival to celebrate the fact that the leader of this town survived the first Bijuu attack. To Kosuke this seemed like a stupid festival but he really didn’t care. As he and Fumiko walked down the street he looked over to his best friend. Fumiko has dark hair that is kept long and slightly messy with a few strands falling over his face. He was tall and lanky and was never seen without a cigarette in his mouth. He always said that he didn’t care if it could kill him because shinobi lead notoriously dangerous lives anyways. Kosuke just left it alone, his oldest friend was too stubborn to budge anyways. The two had a lot in common, they both loved to train and they each shared the same dream, To create a world where there was peace, no wars or any type of fighting aside from spars. They both wanted this goal more than anything else, and they were willing to do anything to accomplish it. But they knew that these plans were far down the road and they needed to focus on the present. They had finally made it into the town and decided since the festival wasn’t going to end until the next day, they would do some snooping around to find out more about this family. As they asked around some of the people had heard about them and as such they gained some useful information. But knowing that these people were citizens, they decided to check in the administration building where all of the records were kept. After a quick Henge and some fake names they got into the building and began to do some snooping. They found out that the boy’s parents are two retired chuunin level shinobi who retired just after the kid was born.

After learning all they needed to know they decided to head out to actually find the target. Once they entered the crowd of people they knew they were lost so Fumiko made a couple shadow clones to help them find the boy, and were told to dispel when they found them. After about an hour of fruitless searching Fumiko noticed one of his clones dispersed that was at the southern end of the parade. They immediately began to make their way there using the roofs and the hiding with camouflage technique they watched the family unseen and unheard. They saw them, the father seemed to be very fit and stood at above six foot tall and appeared to be an absolute bear of a man, he had black hair that was short and then came to frame his face in a thick scraggly beard. The mother appeared to have a very petite form yet one could see clearly pronounced muscles in her arms and exposed legs, she had long brown hair and a kind smile with yellow eyes. The boy though was just about three feet tall and appeared to be very scrawny. He had medium length brown hair and big bright yellow eyes. They were merely playing games and riding all of the rides for the time being so the two shinobi just decided to watch. After a while they noticed they were going back towards their house which was right on the outskirts of the small town. They followed and placed on a pair of masks they had bought while at the parade. After landing in front of the family Kosuke didn’t even bother telling them to hand the kid over as he knew that thought was mere folly. He immediately threw a kunai at the surprised father who blocked it with his own.
” It was here, that the events began to distort into something far more disturbing to Kosuke. “As he stared the mother down through the eyeholes of his blank porcelain mask. She seemed ready to act at any moment and looked ready to pounce at Kosuke should he make the slightest movement. He looked at the woman and knew he would have to do something to throw her mind off so he formed the hand seals Snake → Rat as fast as he could manage and then threw a smoke bomb in front of both of them and obscured their vision. Then to her it appeared that Kosuke disappeared while really he just circled closer to her. As he approached her he chopped her on the back of the neck and knocked her out he then tied her to a nearby tree with a kunai embedded so it would be just in her reach if she really worked for it. He then rushed into the forest and saw the woman’s clone tending to a few scrapes on the child. It appeared she had fallen in her escape attempt and was recuperating, he threw a kunai getting rid of the clone in a plume of smoke and then knocked the child out to avoid any distractions.  As he made his way back to where he left Fumiko, he heard a whistling sound and had to dodge a few kunai aimed straight for his head. He looked back and found the mother, she was apparently tougher than originally thought. The woman began her onslaught immediately, throwing a flurry of punches and kicks at Kosuke which he didn’t have time to dodge so he had to settle for blocking.

She was definitely fast and VERY strong and it was beginning to grate on Kosuke’s nerves. He immediately used the kawarimi to get away from her and then begin his own onslaught. He threw punches and kicks at her at a blinding rate, yet she managed to dodge or block every single one. Eventually she seemed to tire out and she got grazed by a right hook and it threw her back. She then made the hand seals for a jutsu but Kosuke had beaten her to it he threw a kunai with an explosive note attatched at blinding speeds right at her face, the woman’s eyes widened and she was only just able to leap out of the way, but she was unable to dodge the explosion that followed and it shot her a few meters away. Kosuke immediately took advantage of this situation and appeared next to her and lunged down to her with a kunai but she rolled to the left and was immediately up. She performed hand seals and a huge gust of wind knocked Kosuke away into a tree, the hit was hard enough to knock the breath out of him and he was unprepared for the sudden jump kick to the face he received.

He tumbled to the ground and began to think of a way to handle fighting this woman. She was definitely faster than him and appeared to be stronger too so the only way to defeat her seemed to be to catch her off guard. She appeared to be slipping here and there due to fatigue, Kosuke could tell she didn’t have very much chakra, so he just had to wait her out. As he was dodging her rather sporadic attacks he noticed that she was a bit slower now and so he decided it might be the time to act. She threw a right straight punch at him, he moved to the left and upper cut her in the gut. This made her cough up blood and her eyes widened as he brought his elbow down hard on the back of her head, ending her life instantly as it caved her skull in.

Kosuke immediately crouched and began to catch his breath. That had been a long hard battle, this woman was far above chuunin rank, and she was definitely Jounin material. He thought about how hard the mother fought for her child, she was merely doing what any mother would do to protect her young. But now, due to the flawed shinobi system, she was dead, and her son was going to become breeding stock. This made Kosuke’s blood boil, but he knew his village wasn’t to blame, it was the fools on the council. They are the ones who assign missions like these. Kosuke then realized that he hadn’t seen Fumiko return meaning he must still be fighting. He immediately made his way back to the road where he had left him. Once he got there he saw Fumiko was caught in come earth style Ninjutsu that inhibited his movements. He was littered with cuts and bruises, his clothes torn and shredded. His mask was even cracked. The other man was in no better condition, he was also covered in cuts and gashes and his own blood. He was also panting heavily, but then Kosuke saw him raise a kunai and take off running to plunge it into Fumiko. At this moment, the world slowed down for Kosuke.

He noticed everything that was going on, he saw the sweat forming on Fumiko’s brow as he tried to force himself free, he saw the dust being stirred up as the father ran at Fumiko, and he saw the blood dripping out of Fumiko’s mouth. He watched as the life drained from Fumiko’s eyes as the blade plunged into his heart. He saw him mouth the words ‘Run Kosuke’, but he was paralysed. He saw red. Without even realizing what was happening he dashed forward and tackled the man to the ground and began to beat mercilessly down on the man’s face, the man kicked him off but he was right back on him trying to kill him with his bare hands. The man finally kicked him off and was able to stand up. This allowed Kosuke to come back to his senses and he looked and his mask had fallen off and the white had been stained red with the man’s blood. Then the man began to form hand seals but Kosuke beat him to it by throwing a kunai and impaling the man’s right hand, this left him unable to perform hand seals. Kosuke then threw a volley of shuriken, most were dodged but a few found their new home in the man’s back.

The man then began to try to run away, screaming demon and devil. Kosuke was so furious, for some reason he was unable to keep his emotions in check. He looked down and saw he had the metal arm he got and stabbed it through the man’s throat. Only then did he look down and see the horrified expression of pure betrayal frozen on his mother’s face. The man he had been fighting gone, to reveal the bloody battered body of his mother. He looked over to ‘Fumiko’ to see that it was his father. His mother must have been trying to end her suffering by killing his father. Unaware of these things Kosuke had killed her.
” At this moment, a frantic Kosuke shot awake. He NEEDED to check on his mother, and even his father. That dream had been much too realistic for him to not be worried.

Getting dressed quickly and bolting outside into the storm, he rushed over to the main family’s house. Trying to keep the worst thoughts from his mind, he burst through the door and looked everywhere. Not finding a single person, not even a maid, he rushed to their bedroom. His fears began to take form, not only were they not there, but, there was a rather large bloodstain on the floor. He quickly activated his Sharingan and rushed around the house searching everywhere, finally, he found a bloody handprint on the door to the Naka shrine. Rushing inside, he saw the one thing that would truly change his life forever.

In front of him, in the center of the training field hidden below the shrine, he saw his parents. Only his father was standing before a crucifix that held his mother. She was littered with cuts and covered with blood. He could hear his father say, “You don’t need to see him, he is above you. You are a worthless bitch and you don’t deserve to see MY son! This constant rebellion in intolerable. I will kill you myself now for your insolence.” Kosuke’s eyes widened, his world slowed to a stop. He saw his mother gaze upon him one final time, tears of blood trickling down her cheeks, a sad smile on her beautiful face. Her eyes conveyed nothing but pure love, but before he could rush to save her, he saw his father swing a blade and behead her. And then, the cross was set alight, her screams of agony saturating the air with a melody of anguish and despair.

At this moment, Kosuke’s fully matured Sharingan glowed brightly. Its three tomoe converging in the center, drawing a black blanket across the iris. At the center of his eye, his pupil emanated a pulse which formed a red ring around it, and an eight pointed star formed. Inside of this star was a shuriken shape with its points going up, down, left and right. It seemed as though his father had taken note of his witness, and was charging at him, his red eyes blazing. Kosuke saw nothing but pure hatred, though his face had shifted into the most frightening neutral look, anyone has ever seen. It seemed as though his father, and everyone else was so far beneath his concern, you might liken them to ants. Though, inside of Kosuke’s mind this was not the case. In his own mind, Kosuke thought that the fires of hell were too good for the man rushing at him, in an obvious attempt to end his life. This was pure folly though, as Kosuke merely glanced at him, and the man’s blade phased straight through Kosuke. His father’s eyes widening in shock, Kosuke rematerialized and punched the man in the face.

Flying backwards through a wall into an adjacent room, the man had only a moment to think before he saw a distortion in space time and Kosuke appeared with his blade fully extended. Stabbing it straight through the man’s throat, he stared emotionlessly into the bastard’s eyes. Observing the pure shock and then seeing this become pride. Kosuke’s eyes widened at this, and his neutral façade evolved into the pure, raging fire of hatred that had boiled over in his heart. The man seemed to be attempting to talk, as he gurgled and choked on his own blood. Kosuke merely looked him dead in the eye and whispered, “Enjoy your time in hell, when I get there and see you again, you will find out what comes after the Afterlife.” At this, he yanked his blade out of his father’s neck, killing him by choking on his own blood.

After returning to his own home, he collapsed in the floor. His new eyes had expanded the last of his chakra reserves. He knew he didn’t have long before they found him and he was demoted, or branded a criminal. After a few days, he awoke in a hospital room with Lord Chowakage watching over him. The aged Kage had pardoned him and even covered up the murder, telling him that the man had most certainly deserved it. It was at this point Kosuke was forced to attend his parent’s funeral and hear how sorry people were that they had been killed by an angry mobster. Kosuke merely observed in a very detached manner. He then returned to the shrine to read of the Sharingan. He read the price for obtaining the power he had and also read of the price that using this power held. It seemed as though he was on a path towards blindness unless he killed another to replace these eyes he had.

Kosuke would spend the next weeks in both mourning and thought. Pondering what to fight for at this point. His only purpose before had been to free his mother, but now, he had no one. Nothing that gave his life meaning, none that gave him a goal to strive for. He had reached an impasse and nothing he thought or pondered on could help him move on past this dreadful occurrence.
