Cool and dark, very similar to the coffin the Dullahan clan had been buried in for one hundred years. This place had been chosen for the clan's compound after they had resurfaced and integrated into Yamigakure. A tall and wide building, to adequately fit all of her clansmen: for to them who were immortal, all matters relating to the clan were important. While each sought the experiences of death in their own manner, they always shared ideas and agreed in most regards. To them who were unbound by the laws of mortality, worldly influence held no sway over them. Pragmatic to the core and some very insane individuals from being imprisoned for one hundred years: none cared for disagreeing with the most simple perspectives.

The reason Rei was in this hall of all places, was very simple and also very complicated.  Currently, the clan hall was empty, for her clan had yet to receive the various letters she had sent out the day before. Soon, they would begin to pour into the clan hall, looking at her expectantly for an explanation to the letter they had received. Mot notable, was that she would not speak of the matter in the letter until it was confirmed that every clan member was there. Until this was confirmed, she would sit at the head of the room at a table with her hands folded together and concentrated.

Rei had arrived early, several hours early to be precise. There she sat and concentrated on her charka an the nature. She released a portion of her natural chakra to make room for the Senjutsu chakra she was absorbing. While complicated, she had mastered this art to a fair degree. The complicated part was the clansmen themselves. Each gifted with a unique ability to see and discern actions and emotions based on chakra aura and fluctuations: they would easily be able to see Rei's true intentions in calling the meeting. The was a problem, but only partially a problem. For the clansmen were all eager to seek death and experience it in one form or another. As they would enter the clan hall and notice Rei, they would realize that she possessed murderous intent- yet their curiosity and false sense of security in their own cursed immortality, would keep them abated and await her explanation. After all... what could only one immortal o against an entire clan? Slowly they trickled in and took their seats, talking sparsely as they focused their intentions upon Rei at the head of the room, who was still focusing inward and paying little attention to them.

Finally, Rei opened her eyes and looked about. Mentally, she counted their numbers to ensure that every one of them was present- for what she was presenting was so important that it couldn't be missed by a single clan member. Why have you called us here, Rei? Your letter sent to us all said that you had found a key into releasing this curse of immortality! Is this true? asked one, far too eager and curious for his own good. Some stayed quiet and watched while others agreed with the first spokesman, demanding answers, especially since Rei's aura was dangerous. This is a place of talking and sharing the experiences of death to help us all understand and end our curse. Your murderous aura has no purpose here. Especially not amongst our sacred treasures store here.

Rei grinned at that comment, all of that statement really. It was true that this place was a place of sharing ideas and helping each other understand the experience of death and end their curse. In fact, it was this very reason that she was here with all of them. Secondly the mention of these "treasures" She had never seen them personally but knew where they wore stored: there was no need for secrecy amongst a clan which could see and understand each other based on an aura. The truth to these treasures, was uncertain... but what Rei did know, was that these treasures were from the Sage himself.

She stood up suddenly after the questions had been presented to her. As she rose, her aura changed slightly and the power of Senjutsu flowed through her, invigorating both her body and her chakra. Amongst her clan, she was the first an only of them to understand and receive this blessing from nature. Suddenly, the entire clan's aura's changed to confusion. While passive, they were all in inner turmoil. Rei's very aura was now similar to that of the Sage, yet entirely different.

She took that moment of confusion and seized control of the situation. You ask a rhetorical question brother. The very reason I brought all of you here, is to answer the very questions that this clan hall was designed for in the first place. It was a solid yet very heavy statement. She was basically saying that she now held the key to all of their fates. It wasn't much of a stretch, nor did they genuinely doubt her since her aura had become something greater and more similar to the Sage. Some were overjoyed by the possibility, while others suddenly became fearful. s the clansmen looked about, for the first time, they saw the life number of everyone around them. To be precise, they saw the life numbers of their clansmen, which until now had never had a life number due to their immortality. Everyone in the room possessed a life number except one person, Rei.

You ay that, but though your aura has become greater... it still has the stench of murderous intent. Do you truly plan to kill every single one of us? an impossibility, or so all of them were thinking. Amongst all of them present, they could tear Rei apart and imprison her body parts, one person against a whole clan was absurd.

This was the most crucial moment of the "negotiations" Her intent was fully transparent, though they knew not how she would go about ending all of their lives. Yet by the life numbers on their auras, they had only moments left to live. Realizing this, the clansmen were the most confused. While yet passive in action, their thoughts were in a turmoil to comprehend how Rei would kill them all, especially within moments of each other according to the life numbers. All of you will die in a few moments. You should all rejoice! The end of your curse will be lifted and I alone will continue the solitude and legacy of our people. So rest easy. she said and then activated the points within her body- the Gates activating and exponentially increasing her physique.

Some sought immediate release from their curse, but most instinctively desired to fight back. Though they were cursed and lived a long hard life- they had only recently been released from imprisonment and had yet to understand the Sage's words and the reason her had cursed them with immortality. Many things likely played into their actions, such as wanting to understand the Sage, or live on for a bit longer for various reasons... but their action was clear. As Rei activated her Gates, they knew that physically it would be impossible to compete with the monstrosity she had just become. Subconsciously, they wondered how she had amassed such power quietly and how none of them had noticed- but then again, she hadn't been seen in the village for weeks. Yet here she was, trying to kill all of them in one fell swoop.

Fighting back physically was impossible, yet she was overflowing with chakra. This they could use to their advantage. Quickly, drain her chakra before she can act! It was a command of the consensus and whether they all agreed for not, they knew for the better of the entire clan's interest, they should act. The diamonds on their bodies in various places began to glow and they desperately aimed their malice towards her, intending to draw out all of her strength and drain her chakra.

This was what Rei had hoped for, an by far the easiest method deal with all of them. What she had discover in the wilds of nature, was the key to this monuments victory against arguably the most powerful clan in existence. A light smile spread across her blue face as she felt her chakra began to ebb away as she passively watched her entire clan force this nature power out of her body. To focused on trying to pacify her potential power, their life numbers had been forgotten: after all, who thought of something they had gone without for over one hundred years? Tis along with their physique, for their bodies regenerated effortlessly, was discarded from their minds in this moment of peril.

As they drew out her chakra fiercely, she felt her strength depleting rapidly- for despite having monstrous chakra herself in addition to her additional nature chakra... the entire clan was pulling at her chakra. She staggered, fell to one knee and yet kept her smile. Her face down in the shadows of the room with her eyes upon everyone in the room, she watched them began to petrify. By the time they had began to realize what was happening, it was far too late. None having the ability to mitigate this nature power, their bodies began to petrify quickly. Chaos erupted as they began to scream and struggle in futility.

Rei stood up suddenly, seizing control of the chaos once more. The petrification was nearly complete and she retaliated with her own diamonds, her Meiton pulling against the whole room, augmented by her senjutsu chakra. Panicked and their willpower broken from impending doom, her pull over them was effortless and with no resistance. As they all petrified, she pulled at their very souls. It was impossible to absorb the souls, especially of so many in the clan hall- yet she replenished her chakra. Yet their souls lingered, no longer able to return to their bodies due to the lives lost an the bodies petrifying.

Over to the treasure room she went then, swiftly before the souls could diminish. Through the large doors into the shadows and moments later returning with a treasure chest in which she opened and dumped out black fragments of metal.

The fragments seemed to have life itself, as the inanimate objects took to movement. Slowly they began to swirl around Rei and she stood motionless, for her eyes had left the black metal fragments and on towards the souls which floated in a large mass in the center of the room. Screams, loud soul-piercing screams filled the room and the village around as the souls were forcefully drawn towards the fragmented of the Sage's treasure passed on to the Dullahan. The black fragments absorbed the souls of her clansmen and then began to attach to her skin as though they were sticky. Once attached onto her blue skin and imbued with the souls of her clan, the fragments dug deep into her skin and then began to change structure as they connected over the top layer of her skin to combine into a black armor.

The outcome was not anticipated, but there had always been hints as to the true nature of the Sage's treasures. In truth, not witnessing and experiencing these treasures personally, Rei understood and knew that though they were called treasures- these were actually cursed artifacts, pieces of something old and dark which the Sage had once entrusted the Dullahan to safeguard with their eternal vigilance. Now Rei had unlocked its secret and imbued the artifact with the very souls of all her clansmen. Whether through the familiarity of the souls of her kinsmen, or possibly through the use of Senjutsu chakra she possessed- or possibly even the combination of the two... or worse still, some unknown factor or entity which Rei knew nothing about- somehow, all of this ha come together in a manner which was to her personal benefit.

Greed was not her intention, though she was greedy with curiosity about how her clan would experience death an the true nature of the Sage's treasure. Both of those curiosities had been sated in one fell swoop. Firstly, her clan had their souls ripped out of their bodies and their bodies petrified, frozen in the most horrible and grotesque stances and facial expressions that one could imagine. Second, the treasure had been revealed to its true nature, and though Rei hadn't expected it to graft onto her body- her curiosity had been sated.

The process of integrating the fragments into her body had been extremely excruciating. Though immortal, that did not mean they were immune to pain- albeit to a lesser degree. That being said, the pain she felt was down in her very soul: so powerful that she doubted anyone not of the Dullahan could survive such a process. Which each fragment sinking into her skin and becoming a part of her, she could feel the life of the Dullahan's souls the fragments had absorbed. Screams, echoes of memories, desires and darkness. They swarmed over her very own soul, enshrouding it in darkness, twisting and contorting it to no longer resemble its once wholesome and perfect shape. The agony she felt over the process had temporarily caused her to black out from the pain and overwhelming information and experiences her soul was forcefully processing.

Her blue body had been overlapped with the black fragments which had change shape and connected into a black armor. Unlike regular amor however, there were no links or openings: no areas to remove this armor. This armor was her very skin, changed and transformed into her very own prison that she wouldn't be able to escape. She had yet to realize this- for she had passed out during the process and fell to the floor in a black mass. She had endured however and at the end of the process, she regained consciousness. Her mind was silent at first, calm and collected as she rationally thought over the event and came to understand what had happened. Then, the soul screams had started, small and quiet at first- then increasing in force and loudness. It resonated throughout the armor, wracking her body in pains to her soul. They rose in tempo so loudly that Rei could no longer contain them and instead screamed with them. Out loud and throughout the building and surrounding buildings her scream traveled.

Yet it was unfinished, her scream continued for an abnormally long length of time, twisting and contorting into not a scream, but a maniacal laughter deep within the helmet of her black armor. No longer was there a shred of blue skin left on her, no longer could anyone see her face, her hair or her eyes- yet a dark red glow emanated from deep within the armor as though they resembled eyes.

Insanity was the first and most accurate word to describe what had happened to the girl. Rei Balor, the youngest of the Dullahan, cursed at a young age, imprisoned with her clan and then overturned everything after coming to realize the invisible strings of power around her. She seized the Senjutsu power and then used her own wit and charm to devour her clan and their immortal fate. Finally, she had revived an artifact of the Sage, bestowed to her clan and used it upon herself unknowingly. Yet this had all come at a price she had not considered or even thought possible. Though her clansmen were now dead, free of their curse, she had inherited their curses, accumulating atop the armor in the form of the Meiton's overlapping diamonds upon her armored skin's surface. Visible and tangible, that was the least harmful of the price which had come along with her "reward" Though physically excruciatingly painful to the point of blacking out- the physical pain paled in comparison to the torture her soul experienced. And then, the subsequent harm and torture caused to her mind by the soul screams which warped her thoughts to irrational and uncontrollable screams turned to laughter.

With her physical strength alone, the mixture of her natural state combined with Senjutsu and the Gates, augmented her body to monstrous proportions beneath the armor which seemed to do nothing but torment her. Eager to be free of this torment and thinking of nothing else, her insane laughter continued as she suddenly burst into movement- seeking to flee the building and hoping it would end her suffering. With that one movement, she leaped forward as full speed. The aftershock of her movement of speed plus her brute strength caused the whole building to explode from kinetic energy, shattering the statue corpses of her deceased clansmen.

Like a bolt of lightning, she took off, running through the streets of the still partially destroyed village as she sought to free herself from the never-ending screams of the souls she had accumulated. She was not aware anymore of her surroundings or what was happening about her. So intent of escaping the sudden onslaught of torture from within, she did not realize nor would she have cared what happened. After the explosion of the Dullahan clan hall and she rushed through the streets: her sheer strength and speed caused anyone she made contact with, explode into chunks of meat as she left the village. Like bugs on a windshield, people exploded into chunks and red mist, leaving a gruesome line of destruction from the clan hall outside the village.

A full day passed and there was no longer any sign of Rei within the village. No longer was there any sign of any Dullahan, nor some f the innocent villagers who ha ben caught in the destruction's path. A full day had passed and yet the shinobi and scientists could make little sense of what had happened. They had done their best to reassemble the statues of the Dullahan and matched them to the identities of many of the Dullahan shinobi and villagers. From what remained, it had been confirmed that somehow, this clan had become petrified. Some explosion of some sort had happened afterwards and shattered the petrified corpses- from that explosion, a single entity had survived the explosion and left the village quickly. Who or what it had been exactly was still uncertain- yet it would take them several more days to identify all of the deceased and compare that list to the living.

Currently, the Yamikage was out of the village, participating in the judgment of the Chuunin exams. A falcon would be dispatched and a message of the incident sent. It wasn't likely that the truth would be discovered until after the end of the Chuunin exams, after which, they would dispatch another messenger to inform the Yamikage of their findings. For now however, none alive knew what happened to the Dullahan girl Rei- who was currently on her way towards Seishigakure. The reason for her direction? Who knew for certain, for Rei's mind was still a mess and all she knew was that there was a sense of familiarity resonating from Seishigakure's direction. Her laughter had abated and a silent demeanor had overtaken the girl: still being tortured, her twisted soul was adapting and becoming used to the changed, accepting what had happened and becoming something new. Ko...suke... was all she managed to say through much effort as she ran tirelessly towards Seishigakure.
