C-rank Mission 2 Empty

Mission:

A lone figure stood in a field hunched over a darkened lump as best he could. Said figure was eating something, which to most bystanders would be said to smell amazing, almost like perfectly cooked duck breast. Which, for the record, it was. The flesh of a local farmfed duck who had strayed too deep into the woods looking for a lost sheep. Unfortunately, he ran into something far worse than a wolf, but a ninja. Closing his eyes, Kosuke would take another bite out of his severed duck. It was seasoned perfectly by some spices he had bought for such an occasion. He took a moment to glance down at his body, still recovering from his last mission. He had caught the duck by surprise and he tripped, allowing the small body to tackle him and kill him by ripping out his jugular. Once he finished eating, he would put out the fire and begin making his way down the forest, back towards the farm to deliver the bad news to the owners. It was the least he could do, after ridding them of one of their prized ducks. Of course, he wouldn't bother telling them the truth, but it didn't matter. There were plenty of accidents that could befall someone on the farm.

It was when he arrived at the farm that he found a quivering farmer and his wife, "Say, are you traveling to the village near the base of the mountain? I'd think that through if I were you." The farmer called out as he saw him coming down the road. This piqued his interest, and he turned to hear more. "There have been a bunch of Shinobi attacks in the forest near there and I hear they even called the ninjas from Konoha to go and check it out." He smiled, this was proving to be interesting. He would nod and wave to the couple as he continued past their house. They'd figure out their dick wasn't coming back any time soon and they'd move on with their lives. Tragedies happen every day after all. As he made it to the mountain cliff overlooking the forest outside of the town, he would gaze down to it. It seemed like a peaceful forest, with snow covering much of the grounds and the light of the moon glittering off the snow covering the trees.

This Life is Filled with Hurt…

Making his way into the forest, he would use his enhanced senses of being a Shinobi to suss out where the ninjas may be lurking. He could smell blood from somewhere, the stench of it emanating from deeper into the forest. And so that is where he would go. As he walked deeper into the forest, he would smirk as he arrived at what looked like a small cliff that had been hollowed out by some force and held three quivering ninjas within it. They hadn’t noticed him yet, not that he could tell anyways, due to his small body hiding in a bush nearby. He knew they’d pick him up sooner rather than later as he had met some ninja though whose senses were even stronger than even his own. Deciding to take a more stealthy approach, he was forced to topple over as he tripped on a small root stuck up from the base of a tree. As he stumbled forwards, he caught himself on a small shrub that broke his fall and kept him from making excess noise. Drawing a kunai, he would prepare himself to make a strike. As soon as he did, he waited and watched until one of the ninja he was hunting stepped outside. It was then that he rushed forwards to deliver the initial strike.

Where Happiness Doesn’t Work…

He did manage to catch them off guard as his kunai managed to cut the head off of one of them as they brought their blade up too slowly to properly block it, and his blade was far stronger than theirs. The other two were quick to leap into the battle though and instantly began their counter attacks. One of them leapt into the air and spun vertically bringing their blade straight down on him while the other also rushed, though didn’t seem to be doing anything special. He would sidestep the first one while spinning his kunai in Oscillating Revolver to block the other, placing his mark on the other ninja along with a deep gash in his gut. As the markings spread across Kosuke’s body, he was met with the incredible sense of pain from his stomach as he felt the ninja's pain. He would allow a great big grin to spread across his face, “I had grown sick of feeling numb. I’d much rather feel pain than nothing at all.” With that, he would rush forwards, yanking his blade behind him as he pulled it into the gut of the non-marked ninja and then allowed the marked one to land a hit on him with a strike of their blade. Both of them collapsed to the ground in pain as Kosuke took a chunk of meat from one of them as his mark faded. Eating allowed his body to heal a bit faster as the wound stitched itself up and his body began to slowly grow back to its normal size.

Anger and Agony are Better than Misery…

Once he had killed all of the ninjas, he would remove their heads and plant them on pikes at the entrance to the forest. He would remain there to kill the reinforcements that would most certainly have been sent to find the three missing ninjas, though he had to assume they had killed whatever Shinobi they were fighting as he found no evidence of anyone else in the area at all, though he had noticed some signs of a battle, so he assumed that’s what that was. Though, it didn’t really matter as he would spend the rest of his time regenerating and preparing himself for the next phase of this mission, which would be to kill whatever reinforcements arrived. He would do so in whatever way he could, and he supposed he could get ahead of them by setting some traps in the forest and then exploring a bit more to get a better lay of the land. He had three swords stabbed into a rock at the opening to the cave, this meant that whenever the other bandits arrived at the scene they would not only see the three heads at the entrance to the forest, but they would see the three bandit blades stabbed into the ground. Psychological warfare at its finest.

He would relax here for the remainder of his allotted mission time, that being three more days and nights before heading back to the leaf village at dawn on the fourth day. It took him several hours to make it back to the village where he turned in his mission report and stopped at the local ramen stand to get some good food in his system before heading home to get some much needed rest after such a difficult mission. He wondered if Shojin had taken on such difficult missions recently as since their promotions the two of them hadn’t been taking on missions as a unit but as individuals. He hadn’t even any idea just how much Shojin had grown in the time the two of them had been apart, but something told him that the red haired rival was getting stronger and stronger. He had heard a rumor that he had skipped straight over Chunin due to his strength and was named a Special Jonin while he was proving his capabilities for being a normal duty jonin. That was a pretty cool achievement that he had gotten, to be recognized by the kage in such a manner. That was a high honor that Kosuke hoped to attain himself one day soon. He had done more training with his eyes than he had in the past and was pretty confident in their use, though he knew to keep a better look on them due to their chakra usage than he had in times past. He had to think strategically in order to maximize his performance as a ninja after all.

While he thought all these things, he laid down and began to get comfortable enough to get to sleep. He had been running missions non-stop for so long, he was looking forward to this upcoming long weekend that he had planned for himself. He would catch up with household chores and cleaning before relaxing and taking it easy all the while keeping up with his training and other normal responsibilities. He couldn't’ waste too much time though as he knew Shojin wasn’t taking any breaks any time soon either so he would be pushing himself twice as hard as his rival if he could help it anyways. It was with these thoughts swimming in his mind that Kosuke finally drifted off to sleep.
