Graduation Exams II [EVENT]

The academy bustled with activity as yet another graduation was prepared for the latest class of Konoha Genin hopefuls. This was an interesting group this year, so for Nanao Akiya, it would be an exciting group to take her exams. The students should have already been gathered in the exam hall, which would look like their normal homeroom with an almost amphitheater style. As the various Genin hopefuls chattered in their seats, finally a door opened and in walked their examiner, the green haired, green eyed Akiya-sensei. They would have usually seen her walking the halls with stacks of papers in her hands or helping out the other instructors in various ways. “Alright students! Today you will be taking part in your Genin Exams to prove that you’ve learned and mastered enough of the curriculum to become a true ninja of the village! This exam will have three parts, written, taijutsu and ninjutsu. To start, I’ll pass out the written exam. There are five questions, you must get at LEAST three of them right to pass. You may begin as soon as you receive your test and when you get done, lay it face down on the desk and wait for further instructions. Alright, begin!” With that, several origami butterflies would flutter out from behind her, one landing in front of each student and unfolding to reveal the test. “You have thirty minutes.” With that, students began scribbling down their answers. Whenever they finished and turned their papers over, the page would fold back into a butterfly and float back to where Nanao was grading them as they came in.

Mika had been waiting in the class room, unlike usual instead of different classes it seemed all the Students that were considered for graduating were placed all in this much larger room for the Exams to begin, she had to wonder how many would actually pass, it was something she would have to take note of after the exam was over, though she had done a head count of how many students where considered for graduation, she had to wonder as to the reason she was picked, but likely it was due to how studious she was in class, and the slow but sure progress she had been showing with the needed Jutsu. Though she did recall an incident when her instructor threw up on seeing her monstrosity of a failed Clone that one time, she had taken the warped form of the one she made that caused Komugi to shiver and just kept making it worse till she got that reaction.. it was after that 'failure' that the instructor gave her some pointers and she followed them to make it a bit better. but she smiled a bit as she remembered the incident.

Then the instructor came in and explained the exam and she nodded a bit to herself before the papers passed themselves out, once unfolded in front of her she started to answer the questions presented to her, though she was surprised by the limited questions, But quite happy that she had done the studying she had done. The only thing left to do after she finished her answers was to place it face down, after which the paper folded itself and flew off, now she just had to hope she passed, and then she would have to deal with the Taijutsu and Ninjutsu portions of the Exam, though as she waited and her test paper already gone, she looked around to see if she could spot Komugi or Shiroe, after a few moments of looking she did spot them but they were still working so she left them be for now, and instead started to wonder what kind of Taijutsu test they would have. Though she knew she would hold back her strikes at least so that was handled, and as for the Ninjutsu test she had already shown her slow progress to improvement to her instructor, having gotten better every time, though slowly, during classes so she knew she should be able to pass that without an issue.

Thirty minutes had been the allotted amount of time that the academy students had been given to complete the task at hand. Given that this portion of the exam had only required for them to answer all of five questions, Shiroe was certain that this exam was going to be a breeze. Honestly, he had already been preparing to graduate for quite some time now and with that being the case, he had been sure that he was going to ace the exam in its entirety. Thirty minutes? He wouldn't even need five to write down the answers that he had thought himself well prepared for.

Once the tests had been passed out to each and every student, the students would begin to flip over the exam page so that they could see the front. From what he could see, each of these questions had been entirely too easy. A soft smirk would find its way upon the young Sashigame's lips as he had picked up his pencil and begun to answer the questions with little to no effort. After a couple of minutes had passed, Shiroe would simply flip the paper on over and place his writing utensil just above the sheet. Or at least he had just been about to do as much as the paper would fold into that of a butterfly and would flutter on over to the instructor.

Komugi was one of the last students to arrive. She was nervous, to say the least, and kept retreating to research something she thought she might need to know before fully committing to entering the exam hall. Standing in the doorway, she noticed her friends already at their seats. Hoping Mika noticed her, she shot the other girl a thumbs-up, then brought her arm back and repeated the gesture for Shiroe. She stood there awkwardly smiling at them with her arm extended until another student cleared their throat behind her.

Finding her seat, Komugi got lost in conversation with some of the other examinees until the door opened, and in walked Akiya-sensei. As happened whenever she saw this particular instructor, Komugi started to daydream about how wonderful it must be to have green eyes, but today it was cut short. It was exam time!

"Hm - Hm!" Komugi said affirmatively after every few words spoken. She was leaning forward and had her hands balled up, trying hard not to miss a single detail of the instructions. She'd worked far to hard to mess up now! And as the origami butterflies took flight, she reached up trying to catch one - which nearly rewarded her a firm thwap from another student when she got too close - but missed even the one that landed on her desk. Given the go-ahead, she began scribbling her answers as follows:

When she was finished, Komugi turned the paper face down, closed her eyes, and placed her hands together in a prayer position. After muttering a small plea to the gods, she sat back and quietly waited for the next step.

As soon as all the students had submitted their tests, Nanao would stand, stacking the papers neatly and setting them to the side. She was able to grade them rather easily given that they had only five questions each and only the final question would require more than just a one word answer. Now it was time to move onto the more practical examinations for the day, taijutsu and ninjutsu. They would do the Taijutsu portion first. “Alright everyone, listen up! We are now moving on to the taijutsu portion of the exam! Your task is to simply demonstrate your skill and ability in taijutsu. We would normally make you spar against each other, but we are running a bit low on time today as another class needs to use this exam room shortly.” She would form a hand sign and a trap door would open with a training dummy rising from the floor. “Alright, as I call your name, please demonstrate your skills before returning to your seat. Please don’t hold back and be sure to show us just what you are capable of so that we can get you a proper grade.” With that said, she would begin calling students down one by one to get them to show her their skills. Most of them simply used the basic academy fighting style to throw a few punches or kicks, but some had some unique techniques no doubt learned from their clans or other, extra-curricular activities and trainings. Once they finished, they could move on.

Mika waited for the other students to finish their tests, thankfully the questions hadn't been all that hard if one had studied correctly, the last one seemed a bit strange though, but she hoped she answered correctly, the good news was if her answer was off it could be attributed to her having come from outside the village not to long ago, But other then that she was happy with her answers and was sure they should be correct.

The instructor then started to speak again, the Taijutsu portion was up once more, well she had been showing improvements in Taijutsu during classes ever since she mentioned to her Instructor that she wanted to specialize in it, it was the instructor that had mentioned the Dynamic Entry technique to her and gave her the Idea to pursue it, so she could use that, it wouldn't be to outside the realm of possibility for her to have learned it, but then again she was trying to keep a low profile, so maybe it was best she didn't use it?

Regardless she wasn't first at least and she got to see that most used the basic fighting style they used in the academy, nothing to flashy, it was more a foundation for building off of to make ones own style and give those not versed in more advanced Taijutsu at least some means to deal with hand to hand threats, though as she watched she realized how few actually had any focus in Taijutsu as those that did tended to be from Clans and thus likely taught through them to accel in the clans main means of combat or their most well known, or they were known to already accel in Taijutsu to some extent... This would be problematic for her as it meant if she used a technique she would quite easily stand out, though the instructor would likely expect her to use Dynamic Entry as she had been told about it and mentioned she was trying to learn to do it correctly, she had also mentioned her focus on Taijutsu to the instructor. Crap she really had opened her big mouth in that regard and now here she was having to preform...

Finally her turn came up and Mika got up from her chair and she heard a snicker as that Hoshigaki Bully from earlier muttered to her "Good luck in failing Failfield".

She glanced at him a moment, well that made her make her mind up right quick, as she looked at him a bit longer then smirked making the boy give a surprised looked as she suddenly ran towards the Training Dummy, keeping her speed to something an Academy student could achieve, and then launching herself into the air at it and landing with a solid TWHACK right on the dummies Face and forcing it to bend backwards a bit from the force of the technique she then pushed off it and landed with a bit of a stumble but managed to keep her feet as she executed a very well done Dynamic Entry technique on the dummy, She then moved in and landed a series of simple punches and kicks, nothing to advanced, she stuck with the academy fighting style for the rest of her strikes, she then ended with a hard front kick to the Dummy and With that She bowed to the Instructor and headed back to her seat, though as she did she looked at the stunned Hoshigaki "Keep that in mind the next time you want to make threats...." she muttered to him.

Given that the students had just finished the written exam portion, the next aspect of the exams that they had been going to undertake had been the taijutsu portion. Admittedly, Shiroe hadn't quite expected the exam to focus solely on taijutsu. If he had known that this were going to be the case than he would have at the very least practiced his taijutsu. Alas, he had been so caught up in training his various other jutsu, such as his non-elemental ninjutsu, genjutsu, and fuuinjutsu, that he simply hadn't thought to get ready for only this.

If the group had decided to focus solely on the combat ability of the young shinobi in training than Shiroe was certain that he could come out on top. That.. didn't seem the be the case though. It was a highly upsetting thing to have discovered at the moment but there wasn't really anything that he could do about it. For now he would just have to do the best that he could here... even if that wasn't much in the ways of formal training.

Before he would have the chance to step up onto center stage and attack the training dummies though, Shiroe would take note of the fact that Mika had decided to approach things on her own. Unsurprisingly, that damned Hoshigaki had been here and prepared to pick on her even now. Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact that this had been a rather important event, Shiroe might have lost his cool and brought a rather unnecessary amount of harm to the boy. This wasn't the place for such a thing though and as such, Shiroe was forced to remain idly quiet as he had kept his gaze on his friend. 'She'll be fine.. If nothing else, I am sure that she has been practicing. Hopefully she is able to pull out something that will cause that rambunctious idiot to shut up.' It was with this that Shiroe would watch, with amazement in his eyes, as Mika would come through spectacularly and put on one hell of a showing. "I knew you could do it, Mika!"

Eventually it would come up to Shiroe's turn and the young Sashigame would have to make his way on over towards the training dummies. While he hadn't had any necessarily formal taijutsu techniques under his belt, he had known how to do a few other things. Things that he had hoped would fool the professors into believing that he had known what he was doing. To start off, Shiroe would leap high into the air and would plant his feet firmly against the roof of the academy. He had considered utilizing the body flicker technique to assist him here but had chosen not to go along with it, given that his natural abilities had been at a higher degree of speed and precision than the technique would have allowed for him to display. Once his blue sandals would make contact with the roof of the classroom, Shiroe would very briefly utilize the tree climbing technique to stick to the roof as he had run the adjustments needed in his head. From there he would thrust himself off of the roof and deliver a simple front flip kicked to the shoulder of the training dummy. While this had all been entirely improvised on the spot, Shiroe had hoped that it looked close enough to real taijutsu to earn him some points.

Techniques Used:

Komugi sat up straight at Akiya-sensei's command. Hearing they were moving on to Taijutsu, she bounced a little in her seat with excitement. It was one of the core jutsu types that - while maybe not always the most flashy - really showed off even a trainees' individuality.

As she watched the other students take the stage, Komugi wondered what she would do. She realized she hadn't really come up with any special techniques, and usually coasted her way through sparring practice.

Oh-! I bet I could pull off Dynamic Entry, she thought excitedly. That's the number one coolest, and I'll for sure get a max score!

But apparently she wasn't the only one with this idea. Komugi's jaw dropped as Mika executed her chosen technique perfectly - at least by this academy student's standards - and with back-breaking force! She didn't stick the landing, but the follow up attacks would have easily prevented someone who just ate that kick from capitalizing on it.

"Yeah~Mika!" she cheered, hoping that would shut the Hoshigaki bully down for good.

Eventually it was Shiro's turn, and as Komugi watched, she craned her neck forward and rubbed her chin in an exaggerated manner while wondering if that wasn't cheating! But, he landed an awesome kick, and that was all that mattered to Komugi, so she shrugged and applauded - even if her outbursts were becoming annoying.

And now it was her own turn. Popping out of her seat, Komugi made her way over with a confident close-eyed smile. It was a front, though, that hid the realization that she'd been so busy cheering for her friends that she neglected to plan her own demonstration.

Ahaha..  'guess we're just gonna have to wing it, she thought while lightly hopping from one foot to the other in a warm-up. Then, pushing off her right foot, Komugi dashed toward the dummy in a zig-zag pattern before launching herself at it. Arms stretched forward, her thin body nearly straightened to a full horizontal until the dummy was tackled. Once contact was made, she clung to the dummy's shoulders and pulled her knees up to give it a quick jab in the abdomen as they hit the ground. Once it was pinned, Komugi straddled the dummy, reared back, and dropped her palms against its face one after the other with a quick ba-bam!

"HA! Take that!"

This batch of Genin was performing well, each of them had proven themselves capable in their own way. She could tell that the Mika girl that used the dynamic entry seemed to be holding something back. What this could be was anyone's guess, but a good ninja knew to keep their cards close to the vest, so this was one academy student that she knew had a bright future ahead of her. Not to mention she had gotten most of the questions in the written portion correct. Following her was Shiroe, a bright lad with a good head on his shoulders. While she could tell that he hadn’t used any particular taijutsu technique, he did show quite the mastery over one of the more intermediate E-ranked jutsu that was only briefly covered in the academy. Finally, Komugi Sarutobi approached the dummy and performed her attacks. Hers was much more brutal and to the point. Tackling the dummy and then beating it senseless was something that no other student had done, so she at least got props for originality.

Standing back to the front of the class, Nanao would speak once more, “Alright, that concludes the Taijutsu portion of these events. Next up we will be testing the Ninjutsu portion. You will perform the Clone Technique, the Substitution Technique and the Transformation technique. You may perform them in any order you wish. You will come into the exam room once your name is called and you will be given a blank headband, please put it on until the end of the exams and scores are announced!” She would then head over to the door before calling in the first student. After a few minutes, they came out with a blank headband on and returned to their seat while Nanao called in the next student and so on. Finally, “Mika, please come on in!”

OOC Notes:

Watching Shiroe do his nice demonstration, he used a technique that was mostly only talked about, tat would likely get him some extra considerations, and his combo was clean, she could easily keep up with him as she moved through it, and once he was finished she nodded to him with a smile on her face, she thought he did pretty well but she also wasn't aware what the passing criteria was for this portion so they would have to wait and see.

Mika was glad to see the other two do well, though Komugi's rather unorthodox display was nearly enough for her to burst out laughing and she couldn't help but notice the Hoshigaki Bully from earlier staring at the dummy as Komugi was laying into it with a look of 'well...crap' on his face. Considering how Komugi had caught the Bully of guard that one time she had no doubt it likely could have ended up much like What Komugi was doing to the Dummy right at this moment.

After that it seemed Komugi was the last one, and so Mika waited as the other students were called into a separate room to show their Ninjutsu, so she sat and waited, and it seemed to take a while but finally a student left and her name was called and she stood up with a smile and waved to Shiroe and Komugi before heading inside.

once she got inside she was given the head band which she put on and then she had to do the task of executing the Jutsu.

she started to preform the handseals needed to do the first Technique, the Body Replacement Technique, and soon there was a puff of smoke and she was gone from her place and a simple block of wood was there where she had been standing, she then walked back out from where she had moved to using the Technique and returned to her place to continue to preform the other needed Jutsu.

She then returned to her spot and proceeded to use the Clone Technique, spending a bit of time gathering the chakra and correcting the image in her head, simple but she was so use to making one of the myriad of failures to mess with Komugi that she had nearly done one of those instead. and then with another puff of smoke, she had a well made Copy of herself next to her, it was a decently made clone, she made it to the best of her ability given her issues with Ninjutsu after all, but she was sure it would pass

After letting it Vanish she moved on to the last technique, the Transformation Technique, Preforming the handseals for it she focused her Chakra once again and she looked looked around the room and her eyes fell on a nice solid looking des and then she poofed, soon the smoke vanished and sitting where Mika had been a duplicate of the sturdy looking desk. and after a few moments Mika released the Jutsu and bowed to the instructors after which she was guided out of the room with the blank headband on and she sat down back at her seat.

After having bore witness to Komugi's style of fighting, Shiroe couldn't help but smile at her. It had been a truly adorable way of fighting in his eyes. Just going all out and beating the ever living snot out of the opponent. She was a one of a kind of girl and Shiroe had been glad that he had known her. "Good going, Komugi. Love to see it..!" Honestly, sparring with her was going to be one hell of an interesting thing to do. He had truly hoped that the two would end up on a team together. The three of them, if one were to mention Mika.

With Mika heading on in to complete her tasks, Shiroe would offer her both a slight wave and a soft smile. His companions had been doing well thus far, as far as he could tell. Well.. He wasn't quite sure of how they had done in the written portion of the exam but he had figured that his friends had known what they were doing. "You've got this Mika." The young Sashigame would than turn his gaze towards Komugi and offer her a thumbs up. "You too Komugi. I have all of the faith in you."

Eventually Mika would come back out of the room and had thankfully had a blank headband on. Although Shiroe wasn't quite sure if this had meant that she had successfully passed her tests, he had figured as much to be the case. His own turn would come around soon after Mika would return to his spot and as such, he would have to head on into the next room. Once there, Shiroe would offer the instructor a brief nod before running through the following sequence. "My name is Shiroe Sashigame, Genin Hopeful, and I am here to overcome theses exams." The Sashigame would than grab a singular blank headband before placing it around his forehead.

Rather than stress about what order to perform the techniques in, Shiroe would simply wing it from the beginning. He had decided to start off with the Body Replacement Technique and had decided to showcase his mastery of the skill by kicking his blue sandal off of his foot and allowing for it to be thrown over him. Once the sandal had been about to come down and hit him, Shiroe would smile to the instructors. For all intensive purposes, it had seemed as though the technique had failed as the sandal would bounce off of what had seemingly been his head. A brief moment later though and a cloud of smoke would appear from Shiroe's location. Once the smoke had cleared, it would go on to show that what had once been Shiroe had now been a trashcan from the other side of the room. And unsurprisingly, Shiroe himself had been over in the location where the trashcan had been earlier.

A small bout of laughter would escape from the twelve year old's lips as he would take his place beside the trashcan once more, now in the center of the examination room yet again. Having completed his display of the Body Replacement Technique, Shiroe had decided to head onto the following: the Clone Technique. This one had been quite simple as Shiroe only had to run through the appropriate hand seals before a cloud of smoke would overtake the location beside him. Upon doing as much, two perfect intangible and illusory bodies would appear beside him. Honestly, Shiroe had enough chakra to probably boost out far more of these bodies but had chosen not to exert an overt display of overwhelming chakra for his age. Even he had known just how annoying the repercussions of such a thing would be, if one were to find out.

Having completed the display of the other two techniques thus far, Shiroe would begin to string together another set of hand seals. It wasn't difficult to do in any capacity and truthfully, Shiroe had felt like having a bit of fun with the instructor. Sure, he could have just as easily transformed into that of one of the instructors, but that would have been boring. No, instead he would choose to transform into that of the training dummy that he had seen earlier during the taijutsu exercise. From his understanding, transforming into an inanimate object had been much more difficult than becoming a person. He may just very well be incorrect about that assumption though. Regardless, after having maintained his transformed state until the instructor had allowed for him to get up, Shiroe would eventually come from out of the transformation.

They had just been about to head out of the exam room when Shiroe had stopped himself. Although it was unnecessary for him to even have to share this information, the Sashigame had felt as though it was best to speak on the matters now, while he could. Anything that could make him look better was worth it. "Even though you don't really need to know this for the scoring, I did want to say that these aren't the only techniques that I am capable of. In addition to the three that I just displayed, I am capable of utilizing the Tree Climbing Technique and the Water Walking Technique. There are also the body flicker, demonic illusion: hell viewing, mist servant, chakra sensing and chakra suppression techniques. And of course the generic sealing method and genjutsu kai. Anyways.. Thanks for the consideration." And with that, Shiroe would head on out of the exam room and would sit back down in his seat. "Easy peasy."

Techniques Used:

When her name was called, Komugi went into the exam room and took a deep breath in. After exhaling, she confidently - and fluidly - ran through the handseals for the Clone Technique. This was a jutsu she'd clearly been practicing often, as a second Komugi appeared next to her that was a near flawless copy of the original. The two did a couple coordinated movements, then with poof, the clone vanished.

Next was the Transformation Technique. Komugi could barely hide her ever-widening smile as she ran through the proper handseals, then was momentarily covered by a puff of smoke. When it cleared, Komugi had now become the green-haired, green-eyed Akiya-sensei. Almost! The details of the face, hair, and clothing of the instructor were a passable match, however the height was slightly off. Regardless, Komugi seemed pleased enough with her performance and dispelled the jutsu after a few seconds.

Komugi then gulped as she prepared for the Substitution Technique. Bringing her hands up close to her chest, she awkwardly went through the handseals while simultaneously unfastening her shuriken pin. Once she finished, the examinee suddenly dropped down into a crouch, then dodged to the side. Her cloak remained cartoonishly suspended in the air for a moment, then dropped lifelessly to the ground.

"Ta-da~!" she sang shakily, arms extended toward the garment in presenting fashion. She then snatched her headband and ran out of the exam room.

As the genin finished their performances of the three required jutsu, she would make the remaining notes before heading back outside. Looking over the class, she would let a proud smile cross her lips as she looked at each of the students. “You all performed fantastically and I am proud of you all. I am also pleased to announce that you all passed! I welcome the newest class of Genin to the village of Konohagakure!” With that, their “blank” headbands would shimmer before revealing the coveted leaf symbol in its center. “I will be posting the official scores just outside the room. Congratulations all of you. I will also now begin with the announcements of your team placements."

She would rattle through the placements for Teams 1 and 2 before finally she got to Team 3, “Squad 3 will consist of Komugi Sarutobi, Mika and Shiroe Sashigame. Your sensei will be Kosuke Uchiha! You are to report to Training ground 3 first thing in the morning!” She would then move on down the list of placements, skipping the ones that were still in rotation. Finally, she would release them all and move out to the hallway to post up the official results of the exam.

Mika stared at the results with wide eyes, she had gotten her headband that was great and all but... her evaluation.... As she looked at the results there it was for her to see, She was top of the class ..... how... How did that happen? Was there something I missed? Others Used techniques on the Training dummy... it couldn't have just been that right? What about my Test answers... I was sure I got the Two rank ones wrong... and...then the Ninjutsu portion... how did I get the highest? That Shouldn't even be something that I thought was possible given my clans particular issue.. I mean.. I just turned into a desk.. I turned... she thought to herself putting a smile on her face and a look of joy, but inside she was freaking out.

"N... no... I... I remember now.. turning into... inanimate objects is actually HARDER then turning into another person... I.. got them mixed up... I.. I thought... and then I turned into a desk... the most complicated thing in that room... the Taijutsu I launched into immediately instead of warming up to it like the others that demonstrated Techniques... I thought that wouldn't matter but it is the only thing that was different... and I clearly scored the Highest on the test... oh Elders... I messed this up big time... Was how her thoughts were going, but on the outside she was Cheering and all smiles.

WAIT I can still salvage this! I just have to be more careful on the missions that's all, it could then be thought of as a simple excelled in a class room not in real conditions thing, that would make a lot of sense... b...but then I have to make sure to stay to this level of skill for a bit then till a mission comes along.. then I have to be careful on getting myself taken out but not killed.. oh dear this just got even harder then I though... with this kind of starting reputation they might put me on things thinking I can handle it... I mean we really don't know how they treat Genin that get this kind of award...." her mind was racing as she thought of ways to salvage what she thought was a massive mess up in her plans to be seen  as unassuming and rather unremarkable, she CLEARLY took the exams to seriously and thought the others would FAR outshine her just due to them having lived this like and likely been prepared by their clans.

How did this even happen? did the clans get complacent? That's got to be the only reason... wait... the information we have... that was all from before the war... their has been peace for a while... DAMN IT of COURSE some of the villages and Clans would have become complacent during Peace time.... with no major Political issues they have no reason to keep the same standard of training as before the war when there was clear strife.. no Village or Land is making overt moves so training Ninja as basic soldiers isn't needed... they would focus on... CRAP!!! They would focus on stand out individuals to get them into whatever Political Shadow War might be going on! CRAP I messed up I trained and prepared thinking it would be wartime measures like out intel mentioned... I didn't even consider a drop in due to the Complacency of the clans and the long peace

Despite all her freaking out mentally Physically Mika was busy being all smiles and rainbows about her placement She ended up turning to Shiroe and Komugi "I have to go let my Parents know right away!!
