New Heights [P, Shojin]

Kosuke arrived at the massive gates that led into one of the most notorious training grounds in the village. He was supposed to be meeting Shojin here for a bit of a training exercise, but he knew it was going to turn into something much more than that. The two of them had too much pride and respect for one another to hold back too much, so he was prepared for the fight of their lives. In preparation for said battle, he would begin drawing in senjutsu chakra and storing it for later. He would make his way into the gate and would begin making his way towards their designated meeting spot. It only took him a few minutes to get there via hopping through the branches of the massive trees. Once he arrived, he found a clearing in the center of the forest, dotted by large plateaus made of rock and grass. Kosuke would leap to the top of one and would sit down into a meditative position to wait for Shojin to arrive. As he sat down, he took note of his current apparel, his headband tied around his neck with his dark green Jonin vest displayed proudly over top of his clothes where he used to wear the red vest. The rest of his clothes hadn’t changed too much, but he had gotten taller and certainly looked more mature than he had before. It was crazy how time flew when you were having fun after all.

Shojin was positively vibrating at the concept of fighting his best friend. So far in Shojin's life, most every combat encounter he'd experienced was relatively easy. He essentially beat Hisomu with one hit, beat Kyoto Senju with one hit, and the only time he'd really ever sustained injuries was when he sacrificed his own body to save Kosuke, who was unaware he was walking into a trap. Truly, despite rapidly building his portfolio of experience, Shojin had not been truly challenged. However, he was fully aware of one thing; Kosuke was just as strong or stronger than Shojin was.

That concept, coupled with the fact that he absolutely knew Kosuke would hold nothing back that wasn't actually bodily harm to himself, meant that Shojin was in for something less akin to a fight and more akin to a brawl. Shojin slowly made his way to the training fields where Kosuke wanted to meet. It was far enough from the village that it would not cause collateral damage to any of the civilians that lived there, and it was also far enough from people who might want to peep in and get a look at their abilities. Not that either of the two were particularly secretive, but the added bit of privacy so that they could be themselves completely was nice.

When he entered, he caught sight of Kosuke. "Ahhh, you didn't chicken out! I was sure you would, ya'know!" That was, of course, a joke, but it was just like Shojin to poke fun at Kosuke.

As Shojin arrived and spoke, Kosuke had a big grin on his face, but remained seated with his eyes closed. He could feel the energy around them flowing into the very core of his being. This forest was filled to the brim with natural energy, so there was plenty to draw from. “I was afraid YOU would chicken out. Glad to see you put on a brave face for this.” He’d chuckle a little bit before focusing up once more, this would be more than a fight after all. This would be a spar unlike any other. “Alright then, what are the rules we are working under for this? No holds barred short of bodily injury?” He wasn’t afraid that he’d hurt Shojin or vice versa, but he definitely didn’t want either of them to be responsible for the death or injury of a fellow ninja. Whatever Shojin said would be fine with him, he was just ready to get this show on the road as it were. Snapping his eyes open to reveal two blazing red sharingan, Kosuke would slowly stand to his feet, looking at Shojin with a wild grin on his face. “Alright then, ready when you are!” Upon Shojin giving some sign to start, Kosuke would leap backwards off the plateau and fall to the ground below. As he did so, he would form some hand signs and a thick mist would envelop the area. It was time to get this battle party started after all.

A smirk crossed Shojin's face at Kosuke's taunt back at him. The two had grown to respect each other from way back in the days of the Academy, and both of them knew there was a mutual respect there. Still, that did not stop them from giving each other endless quantities of shit. "Kusho can heal almost anything. Just don't kill each other or lop off any limbs, I guess!" Shojin was confident in Kusho's abilities. She had saved his life on multiple occasions, and even Kosuke's on the last mission the two had completed together. Truthfully, he wasn't even sure of the need to avoid lopping off any limbs, but knew he probably shouldn't push that.

A few hand seals, and from nowhere, an enormous slug would manifest itself beneath Shojin, who now stood atop it. A second identical body of the slug, though only the size of a finger, would rest on the back of Shojin's neck, fusing with his skin. The mental link would immediately set in, and he could now communicate with Kusho the Slug in his own mind. In that moment, his intentions for summoning Kusho would be transmitted to the creature, and it would be entirely caught up on what was happening. Don't summon me for petty fights with your friends! Kusho's high-pitched, feminine voice would say in his mind. Shojin felt a response was unnecessary; he could feel Kusho vibrating with excitement, and knew that the anger was just a front. He couldn't tell, however, if it was excitement to participate, or to see what the two had. Maybe both.

Shojin glared into Kosuke's now red eyes. He still wasn't completely sure what those things did, but they were cool nonetheless. He remembered the first time he'd seen them, being crushed in the techniques of some bad guys the duo were tasked to bring down with Jun-Sensei as Genin. Come to think of it, there was a lot of wild things the two did as Genin, and he wondered whether they had impressive abilities, or just impressive ability to get into trouble. Barring any interruptions from Kosuke, Shojin would withdraw the two handles of Hebunriamori and stand ready, keeping a mental note of each weapon at his disposal, ready to equip Hebunriamori in an instant.

I haven't edited but in my updates Kusho got to A Tier and learned two techniques. Just saying in case shenanigans occurred.

Kosuke readied himself within the mist for the fight of his life. He knew Shojin was probably stronger than him, and the thought of that excited him to no end. Rushing through some hand seals, all that Shojin would see coming from within the mist were three glowing spots before three fiery dragon heads would burst from the mist, each moving to hit him directly. While this happened, Kosuke would be moving to circle around behind Shojin, realizing that his friend no doubt had his summons on the watch for him, he’d need to move quickly if he wanted to make this attack work. A few more hand signs and a viscous substance would pour out of his mouth and cover the ground. Should his opponent make contact with said substance they’d notice that it was quite sticky. He had no doubt Shojin would have some method of escape, but hopefully it would keep him on his toes while Kosuke made more plans. He’d need to keep attacking from blind spots as long as he could until he wanted to draw out his trump card and really get serious.

Shojin was very skilled at close range, and Kusho would be able to heal any damage done to him, meaning a close range battle would be all but futile in the grand scheme of things with only sage mode potentially allowing him some advantage. He wanted to rely on his Mangekyou as little as possible until he had no more choice.
