Notable Information

Government Type: Representative democracy. Village elders are appointed by clans and factions within the village and act as a senate. In that regard, the Hokage is both a general and a mayor.

Organizations: ANBU, Root

Notable Dissent and Drama: Root is led by a village official who is powerful. Although the Hokage and multiple elders have attempted to disband it, they have failed because this village official carries a lot of weight.

Village Relationships

In light of recent transgressions by Kirigakure, Konoha has cut the ties with them that they previously held during the Shinobi World War. They will not trade with them, nor do they communicate with them militarily or politically. Still, they do not actively pursue conflict with one another. Konoha has much to offer by way of resources, and thus the trade powerhouse that is Kumogakure gives them ample business, and is the only reason Konoha has even an average economy, since they cut off Kiri. Additionally, though Konoha will trade with them, they do not find Iwagakure's military trustworthy as they were the ring leaders in the Shinobi World War decades ago, and will not form an alliance.

Brief Village History

Gonju Senju, son of Ashura was the leader of the Senju clan when they decided to band together with the members of the Nara, Inuzuka, Sarutobi and Hagoromo clans to form the Village Hidden in the Leaves within the Land of Fire. These clans were the first to come together since the dawn of time and had formed a village together. The heads of these clans became the first Shinobi Council and elected Gonju to become their Shodai Hokage. It was the Shodai Hokage that brought the leaders of the other four nations together in the first Five Kage Summit to broker a peace agreement, which quickly fell apart after a few decades. Konoha allied itself with Suna during the Shinobi World War against Iwa and Kumo. The war ended in a stalemate and eventual armistice. Gonju died a year after the war and was replaced by Shikazu Nara as the Nidaime Hokage.
