Appearance:Tall, and somewhat broad, Kyoshi is a strange looking Hyūga. Not that he's not one, he's a full-blooded main-line clan member.  Both parents were members of the main family; though only his father was tall. Thus, Kyoshi being quite as tall as he is is a bit strange. It's not incorrect that it's strange, but it's no more strange than any number of his other habits.

His clothing is perpetually somewhat formal, never really wavering from said formal wear. On missions, he'll wear something less proper but overall he's a very formal guy. He must always look the best for the family.

Personality: Kiyoshi is not a strange Hyūga, all things considered. An ambitious, prideful man who had enough self-confidence to outright deny an upgrade to chunnin. Some might consider him arrogant, but he doesn't. Kyoshi is, however, someone who's willing to admit his faults. Sort of.

Kyoshi knows his faults in relation to the most literal terms, as in weaknesses in his martial arts. This is why he constantly writes up notes in his book about how martial arts feels and if he felt he was good at a specific move. This is also why he constantly buys books to fill with knowledge.

Otherwise; he's not very interesting personality-wise.

Character History: Kyoshi was a simple fellow, even from birth. An average birth was directly related to his average life. Sure, he has pride. That's just part of being a Hyūga though.

The only important part of his history is the following; he was once offered to be chunnin and directly refused. Stating that he's not strong enough to justify being a chunnin and nothing else. Not that he felt like he was weak, but it had been a combat chunnin exams and he hadn't dominated. That was the issue.

This bold proclamation was actually supported within the family; though he suspects that it'd be the other way as well. The important thing that came from that was that he no longer has to pay for his books from his allowance he gets from the family. They supply the books while he goes on basic missions and the like while training.

Kyoshi notably has awakened his Byakugan; as well as being talented in the Gentle Fist. It's just his pride getting in the way of gaining success in the life of a ninja. Not that it's unsupported pride, but that's just the simple part of it. He'd be a chunnin if it weren't for his stupid pride.
